    Hi there,
We are a couple motorcycles ( with passengers) who plan heading off to Alaska by July 5th, so, if any body has any idea or experience to share with us, would be highly appreciated.

I rode from Vancouver Island to Alaska with two buddies on KLRs, no problems on the Dempster highway, can be slippery when wet in some sections, it actually snowed on us for a day in late June! We got a flat tire on this road due to very sharp rocks, carry a tire repair kit. Heated riding gear would be standard equipment for me. We started out with brand new Heidenau K60 dual sport tires and they just made the 9000 kms return trip. The main paved roads are seal coated so expect to find sections with fresh loose sand spread on top of the pavement. The road down to Valdez is a must do with awesome scenery, glaciers along the way. The bugs were not as bad as some had told us...be prepared for rain. You will be styling on BMW GSs!

Have you logged on to ADVRider.com? You will find tons of info from people who have done the ride like backcountry rider. Sounds like a great trip. Enjoy!

Beware a crapload of unpredictable wildlife from Chetwynd an onwards.

Drove up to Ft Nelson in the winter an dodging a moose did several 360s on the highway across both lanes and just managed to not fly off the road, was extremely alert more then normal past that point.
