Gas Gas Pacific will bringing in 2 2010 EC250 FSE 4-strokes. For those not familiar with these bikes , they are a fantastic blend of engine and chassis.
They are a Yamaha WR250F engine that has been opened up through jetting and exhaust and had the Grey wire removed from the wiring harness which retarded timing after 6000 rpm . This engine is very much at home in a superb chassis and suspension and tho the following review shows a cable clutch , the factory site shows a juice clutch to a cable end unit , i think they must have got a pre-production bike for testing . Here is a review

http://www.cyclenews.com/articles/new-bikes/2009/09/01/we-ride-the-2010-gas-gas-off-roaders

Here is the factory site link

http://www.gasgasmotos.es/en/enduro/26-ec-250cc.html

I for one think this is a great looking bike and with Gas Gas's attention to detail and a proven chassis and a proven bullet proof motor , how could it be wrong ?

It's got turn signals and what looks like a licence plate bracket so my guess is that it is street legal. Don't know for sure though.

Hey Lev, the more I look at that bike the more I want it. After hitting that rock today and crashing over sideways into that puddle I'm starting to want more ground clearance and better suspension.

Hey! wait a minute.....Not only does it have the WR250F engine....but it looks likethe same frame....and muffler .......rear swing arm ...and front fender and......

Edit: Rather than post a knee jerk reaction....I'll just say that the overall bike looks very familiar. But I'll leave it to the experts to investigate the lineage more thoroughly. I'm not really familiar with wither bike except for the pictures.

If ya think so , but i happen to have a Gasser and can tell you , the motor and just the motor are Yamaha , all else is different , including the Micro Fusion welded ChroMoly Frame , not aluminum , but like i said , if ya think so

Trail Bike Magazine from England's tested this bike. They didn't heap a great deal of praise on this marriage of Japanese engine and Spanish frame.

"the overriding impression it left me with both times (two different test days at different locations) was frankly one of dissappointment." Si Melbe, TBM

Apparently the the Yamaha powerplant seemed underpowered and he was dissappointed in the suspension which he felt was uncharacteristically choppy for a Gas Gas product. His thoughts were the bike has potential and seemed "undeveloped"and hefelt there were many better choices available in the quarter liter class.

Don't shoot me, I am just the messenger.

Personally, I'd rather have the 300 Nambo

I didn't see anything offensive in your post, and I respect your opinion, I think defending a position or setting the record straight is an importantpart of discussion and flow of information on this forum.

Thanks,

One thing I don't understand is how factories can produce bikes like these and not put bash plates on them as standard equipment. Nobody in their right mind would ride these bikes for their intended purpose without one.

Exactly, but why not just add it to the price of the bike and spare us the hassle?

Dirt bikes are designed and made for track use where you don't need any protection.
