I am heading up to the 24 hour Friday about noon, so dont ask me any questions here, if you want to call me on my cell that will be ok until about 1pm not sure if we have cell service at the site.

Still have a couple of open spots for riders dont miss out.:hb:

Hi Gang,

I have been packing in the shifts at work to make myself available to ride the 24 hr. All systems are go!

Many thanks to Hawkwife and Judy for their food/cooking efforts. I willeagerly devour their creations and gladly contribute to the costs. Thank you!

I am a newbie at this event. I was hoping some of the veterans could chime in with a bit of insider info. Stuff a typical newb might not think of eg. Bring a flashlight so when you launch yourself into the rubarb you can find your way back to your bike!

What say ye? Rocke, tom, Burgerd......or do we have to learn the hard way:shock:

Thanks,

Paul N.

Paul, I've done this event a couple of times and all I can say is RED BULL, RED BULL, RED BULL . . . . at 3:45am that extra shot of energy is a welcome friend. Also, the noise NEVER stops. Bring ear plugs. When it's time to get a couple of hours rest you'll need them. Yes, a small flashlight is a good idea. Some riders wear those neon glow sticks so if they get pitched into therubarb, they can get found by the sweep riders. Reflective tape works also.

Those are my 2 cents.

I would bring:

Glo sticks (nice to attach to the bike so that if electrical goes others can still see your bike)

Flashlight for sure.

Hammer (never know when you'll be needing to fix the headlamp ring (just ask John when ya get there)

Spare tubes and such, you won't have to carry this with you all night but would be nice to have at camp in case.

Anything else you normally ride with.

It's not like going on a long dual sport ride where you're 100km from anywhere. Here you have team mates who will come look for you ( and take your arm band and run ), then maybe let someone back at camp know you're out there.

Thanks Judy & Hawk. All recomendations will be followed.

This is proably a dumb question. Where do you get glow sticks other than at a Grateful Dead concert?

Thanks,

Paul N.

Bring Beer, Wine and something to spice up the coffee in the morning:hb:that should just about do it:shoot:

Don't think of it as a race but more of an Event

Now for the frivolous things

Tubes tires if you have them

Tools (sounds likeNeil will be bring the hammer)

Oil if your bike is a burner

Some electrical stuff we will be going all night

Extra chair for guests (so you can get your good chair back)

I should be dry but an extra set of drygear

If I remember correctly one tank of gas is plenty

Its a primitive site so dont wear you goodclothes

TP they always run out

Flashlight

For everyone, I will be bringing up the projector and dvd player so bring

Your favourite off road DVD

It was one of the best events I have attended in a long time. The DSBC compound was an amazing hub of activity all weekend long.

Thanks to all the dualsport members that came out! I had a great time and really enjoyed the fact that all 3 teams were pitted together. This is my third 24hour marathon and I by far had the most fun this time.

I would like to thank my excellent team who proved to be the dominant force on the Lottery course.;) Jaque, Burgerd,Paul,John V. Well done guys. I could almost be talked into doing this insane event for a fourth time if I could have the same team.

Judy who won the lottery draw in our class?? Did anyone win any prizes??

I would love to know how it all turned out as I left before the trophy's were given out.

Hi Rocke

Tom, Jaques, Burgerd, Kelly, Otis and I stayed till the bitter end :hb:. Once again the door prizes and trophies presentation went on and on and on and on and on :hr:. . . Finally by 4:30 the trophies were given out and this is thebreakdown (if I remember correctly):

Hump-A-Long - 61 laps (Burgerd,Jaques,John,Paul,Rocke)

Pot Belly Racers - 55 laps (Neil,Tom,Brendon,Pete)

Red Liners (NOT) - 49 laps (Kelly,Otis,Mitchell,Eric,Mike)

In the end they didn't do a lottery draw for our class. Theyawared the trophy to the team with the most laps.

We won a few door prizes but nothing significant.

The organizers of the event were impressed by the number of dualsport riders and of our club in general. They thought that we were the ones who looked like we were having the most fun. As well as, we were the ones that complained the least. We would have been the ones who didn't complain at all but Jaques entered a complaint about all the rider that were complaining :mb:

Always amusing to look at the times

Looks like PBR had trouble keeping their speed down, and the Red Liners were only a few laps behind after 24 hours

I think it is safe to say we all had a great time and were glad when it was over.

See ya all next year

Did I win the prize for "Slept the least"? I will use this as the excuse for my share of the discredited undertime laps. Will definately have a timer on the big red pig next year!
