Beta 400 RR great bike

5thgear

I'm a DSBC sponsor. Please thank me with your busi
Been riding the bike now for a few months have been very impressed. The trials technology has definetly trickled down into these bikes. They are super smooth to ride. Perfectly balanced under your feet. It can be ridden on the highway and 2 weeks ago I raced it at Zofka Ridge in Expert class with all the lights turn signals everything. Was doing really good until I put it off a cliff on a goat trail. But even then the hr it took to drag it out was still better than my best day at work.

You can actually line the bike up towards a picnic table rev it pop the clutch and up and over you go like a trials bike . It is so smooth the back tire hardly spins . You never ever are fighting the bike. It feels very light weight do to a low center of gravity.

Recently installed a rekluse clutch and still undecided how much I like it. I'll give it a few more rides. Other than that just the regular hand , rad and skid guards are installed.

No break down issues at all so far except a few smashed turn signals and ripped off the licence plate. Very happy with the bike and Beta has been fantastic to deal with for dealer support and parts.

looking forward to many more rides

I just completed the 15 hour break-in period and can absolutley vouch for everything said in the previous post. I had it down in Washington yesterday and it was a blast on the twisty back roads. I came back on the freeway from Bellingham and briefly had it up to 130kph and it was still accelerating hard when I shut it down. Whether you want to plonk along a gnarly goat trail or fly down a freeway this bike can do it all. I'm really glad I bought and I highly recommend it.

You went down the Chuckanut drive? I was sitting at the Mambo Italiano resturant when you rode by.

The Mambo Italiano is on my route so that was probably me you saw. I ride through Fairhaven and then instead of continuing south on the Chuckanut I take Old Samish Drive around Lake Samish. I find Chuckanut to be too congested with traffic and it's hard to get past slow moving cars. The lake Samish route has almost no traffic, is twistier, passing is easier and it's a more interesting ride. I usually get down to around Mt Vernon and then cross over the freeway and take a bunch of secondary roads north to get home.

You posted gpx files for your day trips through there IIRC, I'm still looking forward to trying some of those out.

What are running for tires, John? Factory for now?

I've got the factory Metzlers on the bike right now but the rear is wearing down fast and will need to be replaced in the not too distant future. Fortunately, I've got a Pirelli MT43 with about 3/4 of the tread still left that I can put on it. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs on the bike. OTG has one on his Sherco and he says it works great. That bike is very similar to the Beta so I'm expecting a good performance from it.

Any time you want to cruise the WA state backroads let me know and I'll be happy to go with you. I know a lot of great roads down there. I've got them all posted on www.bike.stu.ph and anybody can download them.

after clicking on the link is there anything else i need 2 enter ?
it wasn't that obvious for me.

B.T.W. fifth gear thanks for bringing the beta's in, one of only 2 bikes i would consider if i bought/buy a new bike
also i have been driving by your shop twice a day going to and from work, awfully tempting to stop in!

First of all let me appologize for getting the URL wrong.

The correct link is:

www.bike.stu.ph

Sorry 'bout that.

When you get to the site you will see a bunch of red push pins spread over the map. clicking on a push pin will reveal the details of the ride in that area. Alternatively you can click on "Disc rides in the forum" in the center of the tool bars at the top. This will open a new page. Under the heading "GPS Stuph" click on "GPS rides" and a list of all the rides and the person who uploaded them will appear. If you click on a ride that interests you another page will open up containing info about that ride. Included on this page is the link "click on map link" If you click on this link a map will open showing the ride along with information on how to download it in whatever format you want.

Again, I'm really sorry about the typo in the URL. I know how frustrating that is.

Haha, you must mean rocket powered roller skates, but the only rockets you'll find in Acme come in brown bottles.

Let me know if you want to go on one of these rides. I'd be happy to show you the way.
