i'm taking the motorcycle course next weekend and looking for my first bike. exciting and intimidating. i'm 6'5", 200 fairly fit 47 yr old guy. i'm more used to riding mtn bikes on technical trails.
i see the bike being used 80% for commuting (live in the Comox Valley) and 20 off road. i want to avoid the inland highway and don't anticipate either high speed long rides, hwys or aggressive off roading (that's what the mtn bike does). occasional 2 up riding and shuttling on river canoe trips would be great.
all research seems to point to 2 bikes: wr250r (very hard to find used) or drz400s (seem to be more common). do i understand correctly that the Suzi is not fuel injected? is that much of a problem? the drz has better torque obviously. i would prefer better fuel efficiency and i read somewhere the drz is poor in that regard but maybe that's one guys experience. is there an insurance cost diff between the bikes due to diff engine size? so much i don't know....
do you have to pay sales tax when you buy a used bike privately? my buddy said so and i have a hard time believing that. any ideas or opinions are appreciated.
