After the morning Dubber meet to exchange pleasantries and put forth an itinerary, we gathered after a fuel stop at the the start of Copper FSR to some darkening skies. Onward we sloshed through the brief moments of deluge wondering if it would let up. The first session of the day was a 44 Km stretch of uneventful FSR, more KLR than KTM conducive terrain, at this point I wondered if we were lulling Grumpy to sleep. On the other hand one had to take notice of his new Orange steed, lack of hours, insane cleanliness and pristine condition of the body work and question whether he had obtained those hours adjusting the chain slack. 2T kept pulling over and seemed he was adjusting his Turbo switch but turns out the chain guide was missing a bolt and flopping about, so it was fixed properly with a stick. Almost unnoticed, 2T's plate has flung off. Shortly after the Pass turnoff, a quick glance of the scenery was noted with dusts of new white fluff adorning the mountain peaks of the taller variety.
A short jaunt afterwards we start the Pass trail and 2T generously offers to ride sweep and film the whole fiasco. This always has me nervous as I have to be on my best behavior so to speak. At this point it becomes KTM country and what I normally call the Pig becomes such a hindrance that the temptation to resort to calling it a Camel seems a better description. It's ugly, slow, has several large humps, spits oil on anything behind it, never gets thirsty and eventually does get you there. I really don't know why I'm up front!
Ogle stop proves that Grumpy was indeed here. Even though 2T and I have been here numerous times this year, the novelty doesn't seem to fade. So the pics are repetive in nature for some, but proof for Grumpy's Southern counterparts. The trail is never the same twice with the other traffic tearing up the trail and weather. This time the trail isn't a running stream.
We carry on the rocky path to the normal turn around point if not planning to finalize in Telkwa.
2T discovers someones misplaced cell phone and ironically we encounter the owners on our depart from the Pass trail. The owner is elated that it was found and remains ready for retrieval. Small world as I encountered the father-son team last weekend while foraging trails.
We then scoot up Top Lake direction just so I can suffer the hill that has a desire always to toss me in the Lake. I don't take pics here, but maybe there is some vid. We bounce back along to our next destination, Trapper. A little drizzle accompanies us and atop Trapper the making of flakes are fluttering about.
Trapper again.
The road to Trapper is an easy run and the view is spectacular, even more so after some snow dusts all the peaks. We head for fuel and Grumpy has more pressing adventures, 2T and bid him farewell and carry on up Thornhill mountain for the second time in as many days. A good fast paced run, more entertaining than Trapper with almost equally impressive views.
2T will be adding video footage soon I presume.
