This coming up weekend is the GVMC Trail Ride Sunday September 8, 2013

Even if you don't want to ride the trails it is worth the trip just to see whats going on.

Some of us (DSBC and GVMC) are going to camp at Chipmunk Rapids Campsite for the weekend, everyone is welcome, lost of sites available. Good opportunity to try that new tent out and the rest of your adventure gear (I will be in my motorhome but will bring firewood for the evenings)

I will be heading up Friday Afternoon, riding Tamihi on Saturday and Chipmunk on Sunday

If you have any dirt bike buddies let them know this event is happening

Looks like the weather is going to be perfect for this event

See you guys on the weekend

This was a hoot ! Great to see so many folk out - guys, girls, and kids too !
I got pounded by some great single track (that I had ridden past and never knew was there in my previous rides up/over Thurston), and left Beta bits throughout the forest. After one loop on the "B long", I was done !

Thanks !

That was a great fun dirt ride, the weather could not have been better, saw lots of new people and some really old ones too

I stayed behind to help with the kids loop first think in the morning, that was more like the Iron Man as we stirred up a wasps nest only 50 meters in. Lots of stings but the ride went on. I though I got stung at least 20 times but I counted last night and it was only eight. Kids had a great time regardless of a little pain.

I carried on and did the hard loop with a couple of the GVMC guys, it was hard as promised.

The final numbers were not in when I asked but I heard that there was over 100 riders.

Good event

Official numbers were 110 but there were more as a few latecomers and forgettful folks didn't sign in. I'd put the numbers at 125+. The staging area was full and the Rapids Campground was almost full.

I helped with the kid's route in the morning for a while and like Tom got stung by the wasps. Then I went for a ride and took photos at the trail heads of all the smiling happy riders.

At the end of the ride the folks I talked to said they really enjoyed the trails and they had a good ride.

Thanks to Wally, Chris, Dwight and Ray for putting together a great day of trail riding.

DOh ! Looking over the bike today, I realized I lost my plate - anyone find a plate heading up the wet rocky bits on Thurston ?
