It 'B'egins

The time is here to start working our way into the high country to find some new routes for you. Loose Screw will have a much-revised B route this year for your riding pleasure. Last year's B was a bit difficult - we will improve it this year. The B is now very different than in earlier Loose Screw years. Come out and give it a try.

If you haven't made it past lunch on the B+ in the last two years, go for the B this year. I promise you will enjoy it.

Highlights! The new B is shorter, around 200km. Lots of gravel has been removed, more dirt track. Very scenic. Lots of great views and you should have time to stop and enjoy them.

I didn't make it too far today - spent too much time fighting through the white stuff.

Stopped PDQ after flying this little lip. The snow is packed pretty tight from the sleds. Needed to go about 30 feet in the air to clear the snow - not likely!

Did you get the yellow princess out of the snow or walk out? I'm pretty sure a 525/530 would have made it through ;)

There was some shovelling and tire dragging involved in that one. (You would have hit at 20ft going 50kmh. And still wouldn't have made it through)

I did manage to find a new trail that even most locals won't know about. So much for soft and inviting... :hr: I'm going to have to add this trail as a 'hard option'. 9km of awesome!

200m of dark, deep forest water on the trail. No way around - gotta go through. Of course this should be dry in August.

Lots of rocky uphells. With water... (that's a typo but it seems appropriate)

Dorky. nice lookin' stuff. 200 m of knee deep water, and your riding by yourself on a 300 lb motorcycle?? your brave and foolhardy! riding tip of the day-no charge this time- turn your mirror glass over so it faces backwards, they last a lot longer when you hit them with sticks and rocks n stuff. And yes i have a couple of spare mirror sticks,if yah need one.

Thanks for the tip. And yes, from meter 1 through to meter 200 I was thinking much the same thing. It was the ugliness through which I had already passed that urged me forward !!

It's not as deep, but it's still there! We're hoping this will survive for another 10 days. This is on B route hard option #1. Option #1 is drying up quite a bit.

Hard option # 2 is not drying up much. The lake crossing isn't too bad but it's still 200 feet of lake to cross.

Jeez that looks inviting but as I only have a DR650 i think i will give it a pass, THIS YEAR. Next year i hope to have a lighter bike with more suspension.
