MITAS Tire News

Mitas has been around for many years, some of you older riders may remember them under the old name of Barrum tire. This Czech made tire is used exclusively in speedway competition around the world. They also make the Trellborge off road Motorcycle and ice tires now known as Sport X-treme. Mitas makes many on and off road tires under the Mitas name as well as for other well known brand names for the Euro market.

I Would like to bring attention to the newest E07 Dual Sport and Adventure tire. A customer sent me following pictures with this note about the E07 and E09 Dakar tires: "After 8000 km the tire wear was only 3.5 mm on each tire. No cuts no tears no cracks...This trip went well thanks to Mitas tires"

I have been bringing these tires into our Richmond BC. warehouse for over 10 years and now appreciate the chance to finally be able to bring this information to other fellow Dual Sport and Adventure riders.

Do you have a listing of what sizes that you have in stock?

I've ran quite a few EO-9s on my 640 and rate them as a good tire for the buck but I wish they would come out with 140/80x 18... I find the 130 a bit small and comparable to the 120 size of other brands...

The same holds true for the EO-7 checking the website:http://www.ityre.com/en/tyres/catalog/mitas/model/2112/

Go to www.mx1canada.com if you register on the site you get an additional 10 point off

I have run the E 09 Dakar in Baja and was very happy, works well on the BMW x650, and I have just bought a couple of more off road tires for the KLX Mitas C 18 its a soft tire but that what we need around here in the winter

Check him out you wont be disappointed

The new E07 comes in a 140/80-18 size. Its a big honk'n tire, good for the big KTM 950's etc. Its the one my friend Jan used and is pictured in the info attached. The largest size on the E09 Dakar for 18" is the 130, however there is a 140 size for the 17", mostly used on the BMW and KLR guys. I find the sizes for Mitas are measured at the carcas of the tire not the outside tread, this makes for a wider physical size tire than most NorthAmerican tires.

This is a new tire from Mitas and I've sold 10-15 so far to local BMW guys and a few Vstrom riders. This is a Tubless tire and suits these bikes well. The block pattern is much larger than the E09 tire and seems to last longer for the bigger heavier bikes and has more of a rounded profile for cornering. Side wall is much softer being a tubless tire and you run higher pressures than the E09 Dakar tires. So far I have had good feed back from a few people......however all I can say at this time is try it and let me know your thoughts......cheers

What air psi do people find best for wear on slab, V-Stron 50-50, 90-10 and DRZ 400S 50-50?

Mitas E-09

Mitas E-09

I've been running a Mitas E-09 on the back of the F8 for a couple of weeks now.

Some of my buddies have had 'em on the back of their F8's for quite a while now and really like them. I wanted something with more bite for getting up stuff and over stuff that still lasts well. One of them has had it on for over 7500kms now which is really good for a tire like this!

So far I'm very happy! Definitely helped with getting through this (both ways when we hit snow :D).

Made it through without any assistance and didn't have to pick the bike up either!

No problem!

FYI there are three tires to look at:

E-07 which is a 50/50 competitor to the K60's. I'm going to try that rear one eventually too. It doesn't have the centre strip like the new K60's. It's the one at the top of this thread. They are supposed to get around 14,000kms -ish.

E-10 which is like the TKC in intent and very similar looking to the Metzeler Karoo T. There is now a 150/17 Dakar version. Saw it there. Should last longer (esp. the Dakar version). No 21" yet but Colin says they will be here late summer  I do like the TKC front but I wish it had a stiffer casing and was a little more open. I won't bother with the rear TKC as I think the E-10 or E-09 is a better choice.

E-09 is more aggressive than the TKC. Deep (13mm tread) and very open spacing. I'm only running the rear.

Any word on the EO-9s in the 140/80-18" size yet? I don't see them listed on your website...
