Hi Coppertop

The ride itself is not very long if you stay on the EZ route and keep ridng. I would estimate it to be only 2-3 hours. However there are lots of opportunities to take photos, enjoy the views, watch theexpert riders tackle hard trails, etc.

The Newbie Ride is also meant to be a social event with a planned BBQ at the end.

Don't overlook the BBQ at the end! When I first moved here, it was a great way to meet new people to ride with and learn about new places to ride.

So I guess there'll be enough folks that the whole 'roll chart' thing won't be too much of a big deal?

Never used one, don't have a way to mount it, and if vexorg rides his usual pace I won't see him for more than 2 or 3 corners max ;)

I played around with mapsource a bit for a gps file to compliment the roll chart. This is what I came up with for the newbie loop. It might not be bang-on...maybe someone can give it a once over and let me know if any changes need to be made!

:hb:
Edited for correct start/finish!

I checked out your gps file and for the most part it looks fine. However, the Newbie Ride starts and finishes at the same place. The route you posted appears to start at the entrance to Sleese Park and it stop somewhere on the Bench road just beforeit enters into the back of Sleese Park.

The Starting point of the Newbie ride is at the Day Use Area of the Tamahi Rec Site (the large gravel parking area to the left just after you cross overthe bridge on Chilliwack Lake Road). The large white DSBC Bus will be parked here with the DSBC banner displayed. Also, all of the dualsport bikes will be a dead give away that this is the starting point :)

The rest of your GPS track looks spot on though  Well done!

Thanks a bunch for checking on that Judy....I just ended the ride where the map said Sleese Park was located. I edited and updated the file. Feel free to move the file someplace where people are more likely to see it! Like you said just look for the Big Ol' White Bus.

Sounds like lots of fun! My bike only holds 2 gallons, would I make it?

Blackmax...according to the route I plotted in Mapsource, it is just shy of 50km for the basic loop.

Pete, can you upload a GPX version of the file? When I try to load it into Mapsource, it says that it can only read gdb files version 2 and below. As you can tell, I didn't bother to update my Mapsource yet this year.
