Has anyone used this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.wgsoft.motoscan I have a similar application that allows me to communicate with large commercial power plants ( Cummins ) and complex interlock systems

I am just checking out some new resources for BMW applications and need a bit of info on serial data and generic communication using off the shelf components.

In past I used some generic PARKER VANSCO software but this was a few years ago. So to all the "techies" chime in. Is it possible to get serial data, read codes reset maintenance reminders (BMW) without OE hardware and software??

Generic OBD II software and hardware has been used in past (BMW) I am also interested in anyone who has used the set up. GS911 seems a bit pricey if you ask me for a simple code reader.

I have used a generic Bluetooth ODB II reader ( $10 from dx.com ) and Torque Pro (free) on my Android phone to read and clear error codes.

Torque Pro has lots more functionality like reading telemetry from the host computer etc, but my 99 Jeep Cherokee has a simplistic implementation and doesn't offer very much data, so I haven't tried that.

You have used it on a BMW motorcycle? I have the Torque app and use it on cars trucks
