Dear Druzer,

I like the sound of"B"and I guess if anyone missed the fast run into Boston Bar it could be done on the Friday afternoon?

Looks like the B's have it.

Since this is one of the "not to miss" big DS rides of the year IMHO, I'm going to try and take the Friday off to ride up.

This sounds like fun, I'd be into the B option as well. I'll see if I can drum up some more from my posse de l'orange.

The past routledge runs have been really great, and this variation on the theme would be excellent!

Andy your last post on this was in April, is this still a viable plan? I'll go over to the GVMC web shite and see what I can find there.

So: Since I was too lazy/busy/having too much fun, I didn't spend the time up at Spences to find the primo Saturday ride:shoot:

One brave soul dared challenge the many nay-sayers and convinced me that we could do "the long way round".

What it consists of is West Harrison, then over the high line (Anderson Lake), Mission mountain (super-moto anyone?), and across to Lillooet. If that's not enough, throw in the Texas Creek road down to North Bend and cross the mighty Fraser to .....

Boston Bar!:dr:

Its a beauty, but its a long haul, and going hard isn't going to do much but possibly trim a few minutes at the expense of missing the scenery and risking life an limb. These roads have some traffic, steep drops (off the side, that is) and some real sneaky water bars and sharp corners, so :ted: blah blah blah. Just go for the epic, ride to get there with some good stories. A wolf was spotted on the pre-ride!

The beauty of this route is there are a lot of places where a sore/tired/whatever riders can bail to the asphalt. A critical one will be the Lytton ferry. If it is running, big bikes and uncertain smaller bikes can bypass some of the gnarlier bits at the end of the day.

We'll keep you posted.

Not sure how relevant this is.. but I heard the Lytton ferry is not running on weekends due to the contractor and work slow down or something like that.

When you do the West Harrison, when do you cross over the Lillooet River to the north side? Close to Harrison Lake? or closer to Lillooet Lake?

My buddy and me were exploring Kookpi / Nahatlach / Westside Rd last Sunday and were wanting to cross back over by the ferry, but because of a labour dispute it wasnt running, so we burned it across that train bridge. The walkway is just a hair too narrow. We had to ride with our right foot on the train rail as a guide. The natives told us that trains run every 2hrs and the last one was 1/2hr ago. Just as we made it across and took off up a hill a train came across. We were going to stop in the middle for a photo op too. We were both riding bmw Dakars so if your handle bar width is narrower then you should be able to make it through the walkway no prob.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you almost had a close call. The ferry was out when we went by there last week coming from Lilloett. We ended up riding to Boston Bar and crossing there.

Well, I did the West Harrison on Saturday. I saw a black bear along Lillooet River. Unfortunately a car drove into the river in front of us. Probably an hour before we got there. Search and rescue were there. But the fast and cold currents of Lillooet River don't grant alot of mercy. One guy swam to shore. They found one body when I got there. The other two went missing in the river. It's a pretty tight road with the logging trucks on there.

Also some nice camping spots olong the west side. The farther you go up the lake, the less yahoo's at the sites too. Also alot of cool backroads west of Harrison. We rode around for awhile checking out Chehalis Lake. Think I'll camp there next year and spend a good 2 day exploring all those roads.

I ended also doing the Hurley pass loop which was really nice.
