Was up in the Squamish area yesterday trying to get across to Indian Arm, if possible. Snow is still too low, only made it up 5 km on the Stawamus Indian FSR before hitting snow at 542 meters in elevation. Then headed up the Mamquam FSR and hit snow at 651 meters. Was a beautiful day for a ride nonetheless!

I'm planning on exploring the squamish valley, main goal is to scout the Elaho washout. I will be in Squamish around 10am if anyone wants to meet up!

I just arrived in squamish actually. Give me a call in the next 30min if you're still down. I don't mind waiting if it means backup!

Do-Boy, Bad timing on my part, but I ended up on some smaller trails with my son who is just starting out. Would like to hear any update on Squamish Main as I am planning on heading up that way with my kids next weekend. Is there a washout? If so at what mile point? Did you try the Ashlu branch?
If you come up this way again let me know I am usually available for any early morning Sat or Sun ride anywhere in the Squamish area.

The Elaho is blocked by one mother of a washout around km 45ish (don't remember exact km, was there 10 days ago). I don't think it will ever be open beyond that, it was MEGA. And of course the SRV has also been chopped short by a washout last year. The Ashlu is nice, but a bit limited, can't get too far past the powerstation on either side of the river.

WOW!!!
As of last Wednesday the Elaho fsr was still blocked at km 45. No surprise there, BUT It was passable today!!!
That was a major undertaking, as the road was completely burried and washed out for more than a few hundred meters, someone must really need acess up there. It looked completely hopeless less than a week ago.
And the fsr on the South side of the Elaho has had a lot of work done as well, and has been extended for quite a few km.

IMG_2302.JPG The snow is all but gone with some fun technical spots through a number of slide debris areas and creek crossings. I turned around at a washout at about the 15km mark. Looks like some people have gone around above the slide, but overall looked sketchy to me as it seems the rest of it could go at any time

Looking to explore upper Mamquam past the Skookum Creek junction / bridges. What's the road like to and past the Watersprite Lake trail head or the north side of Mamquam river to the end? OK for big bikes?
Is it possible to loop back to Garibaldi Park road on the Ring Creek Rip - on big GS's?

I haven't been past the top of Ring Creek Rip this year on any of the spurs BUT the logging company who was doing active logging which is done now, cut in the lower trail/road under the power line for the logging trucks. The upper section is a bit rough and as it was in the past (and was not used for the trucks) but you can ride under the power line top to bottom vs a versa without doing any single track. I had NP probs going up the entire way on my DRZ but not sure how it would be on a big GS but I would recommend going down first
