As all Baja riders know, you have to have decals, which Robin has provided and has thus provided the title of this thread. This is the decal that will adorn the bikes and bathroom mirrors all across central america and South America.

Welcome to our tour. This thread will be visited and updated from time to time for the next three or so months as we wander our ride down south. The posts will be interactive with family and friends, and updated by each of us at times for a different writing flavor with the actual "blog" (wtf) being layed on me because I was 2 mins. late for a pre-ride meeting, er, sure I'll do it, I guess. For those not used to my writing, it's best read with your head tilted ot one side or the other to get all the humor, or the attempt at it, though I will try and pay attention to puncuation and spelling there are times when paying attention to where I hammer those two typing fingers with be un-impotent.

Here we go.

After countless hours of preparation (and still counting), over the last many months we are getting closer to the Dec.2 projected date of departure, where we will say Adios amigos.
Two bikes have been prepped by Robin, one for him, one for Al, being a service manager for a certain harley shop (owned by Al)and making wages while doing the wrenching the bikes look well dressed for the trip they look like factory rides, Al's bike is essentially new with almost 60 full km's on it. Floyd's ride, is based on the might is right theory, if that stock size bolt "might" work then this big bolt "will" work, though not as PVC endowed as Mark's bike floyd does have many bags, and really big bolts. Mark's bike has more PVC on it than my house has in it's entire plumbing system, no less than 4 freakin tubes! talk about pvc envy, woe is me.

That's it for now more a little later. Chime in and say hello, or just pull up a chair with a three month supply of Cheetos and beer, and enjoy.

as internet cafes will allow the pictures will flow,
Lars, good to hear from you unfortunately we will be bombing down the mainland side of the land of tacos, in fact we are on a bee line mission all the way to Panama, the tenative route will parallel the pan am hwy. til the 3/4 point of Mex. when we will head coastward to the twisted hwy 200 (20?) to the Guatemala border. Not to be blasse but the quicker we get to Panama, the more time will remain for South america. It will most likely take a few days to fix wings on the bikes to fly them to Columbia from Panama and on a 300km per day average to complete the trip, bombing thru to columbia will buy us time for later.

welcome Zuki!
a couple more pics. of the bikes, the first one is a Robin prepped spiffy new (really new) KLr to be ridden by Al once he gets back to the Loops after his team won their class in the over 60 group of the score baja 1000 last week!

full

and the rear shot, note the cleverly concealed liscense plate (if you can see it), there appears to be a water bottle holder mounted there on the left, though I've never seen Al drink anything other than beer n' tequila.

Mark has sent me these pics. of his loaded ready to rock 650. and I have been corrected, he only has three pvc tubes (and one made of imported Russian stainless steel).

full

nothing says portly like a loaded for bear kLr, we'll all be having a beer when the time to change the tires out arrives, whoo hoo, no more lugging them around.

stay tuned more to come!!

HEYY! another Kamloops Ridin fool, I'm thinking Floyd just showed up (luvtoride), and ride Floyd does, and usually at speed, and usually with a truly big assed grin on his face. He's likely showed up looking for pics. of his bike which haven't showed yet, Yes the pics. will be taken and produced in a bit, after I take care of about another hundred things getting ready for this trip. I'm sure he loves being referred to as a "junior member".
Todays quick post has a teaser picture of Robins ride, the one that Kawi should build (and sell a gajillion of em, then use the same molds for another 30yrs). Wow! Go get a pencil and paper kids, youre going to want to make barroom scetches of the enginnering here, welded/bolted braces and racks, zippered/velcroed storage pods, and pretty ladies with flags, it's got it all. There is something to be said for having the time, the parts, the shop, and the tools to do it at a hands reach, backed up with decades of doing it.
There, not too bad really only took me about 5 mins. to do this, now back to the bike to check the torque on my hose clamps. Will be back later with the rest of the pic. and like the Huckster on the TV says, "you're gonna say Wow"

even my fancy new panasonic TS4 loves his bike, lookit all the sparkles.

later. Wayne.

Hey Mark! suelemont siez mas noches! So Floyd is here Mark is here, Robin is awaiting official clearance to join the post (if he can;t get past this sites administrators, we're gonna have a hellove time with the C. American border crossings), and Al, well last I heard he was sitting on the front porch at his place in Bay of La with a cerveza in one hand and a burrito in the other, he's chillin for a few days after lugging that score 1000 trophy back to his place, there's three or four days left to pack for the 3+ month trip , no hurry at all. no problema, manana manana.
Pics. you say, Mr Bear, hows more of Robins ride (for my 3rd attempt).
The first is of his water supply, which has it's very own perch, there are no hose clamps visible and I can't seem to see any pvc so I have no idea how he keeps it mounted on the bike some nonsense about bolts and some process called called wel-ding, or tig, or mig (thought that was a jet), anyways it looks way cool.

full

Robin grabbed this from the factory (with initials HD), and led tail light then crammed it in over the plate, with a zip and velcro it should stay there awhile, totally looks like it left the factory in Thailand with it installed already.

full

In an effort to subsidize my trip I will be including a pic. of this fine easy on/off Acerbis aux. "fuel cell" (sounds blingyier) in every post for the next three months, thx. Colin (at MX1) for your future considerations towards this trip.

full

I couldn't help it, the WOW just fell outta my mouth like a like a gap toothed kid. how cool is that a chopped/channeled pipe off a donor bike, the oval end cap (door) has an inner ring welded in place to offer serious support to the oval section pipe, even maintained the original rubber mountings, well thunk out. And lookit the sprocket hanging there waiting for its "turn" at the trip.
full

there is another pretty lady that I'm sure will show up later, but I'm hopin this one will not distract Robin too much. Canada sure has a nice flag, eh.
full

there is one more Robin pic. to follow, i messed it up and it is of his tower of a tankbag, which seems endless in capacity (I'm travelling with a duct taped sandwich sized zip lock bag on my tank) and is quite towering in height.

well that's all for today, off to do more packing. Darn near done. Funny how I though i was all done a long time ago, but then i've been wrong about other things before.

siez mas noches!! el senor Wayne.

I think that the guys have appointed me the official " tranductor " (translator) of the adventure , just because in know a couple of more words of spanish then they do . It,s going to be a pleasure riding with these gringos , a good mix of personalities. Were loading the bikes up on Saturday up at the HD shop so if anyone reading this is in the area come up for a cervaza at around 3:00 pm . Wow, I can't believe only a few more restless sleeps before you guys turn a dream into reality. Here's to a great adventure. I hope you are able to give us lots of updates.

Remember to only ride as fast as your guardian angel can fly (This groups angel's might need to pack some red bull for themselves)
