Friday was a beautiful fall day in the Northwest, the air has that morning chill that wakes you up. Nonetheless, the Terrace fuel stop still has me catching up on Java as I'm half a pot short. The agenda 2T and I had today was to search for a possible connector route from Williams Creek FSR to the Clore FSR, something at one point discussed as a possible loop to add to the Annual Telkwa Pass event.
Not an exhilarating run by any means, your typical mountain views and logging activity ride. However, this time of year for riding is still my fave as nature sets in for winter, the dewy frosting along the roadside, the ever changing fall colors that slowly begin to litter your path, along with the effervescent forest aromas still outweigh cold fingers and toes.
A few obstacles had me dismounting in embarrassment to check their passability, ridden worse, though it seems the lack of the full Java dose and full tank of gas, combined with that odd feeling that neurons and muscles were not on the same page had me second guessing. 2T must have been wondering if I had bailed or was caffeinating the environment.
After hiking part way of a nearly impossible route, 2T confirmed this was not going to happen. We had originally planned a shorter day of journey so that I could acquire good behavior points for tomorrow's disappearance. 2T has ridden most of what I can get through with a Pig, all that really remained that was unchecked was Thornhill Mountain which was nearby.
After the usual wrong turn, we followed the trail to communication towers overlooking Terrace. Although I had looked at this option before, it more or less appeared as a dull short ride. I was wrong there, the trail offers a mix of entertainment for all skill levels and bikes, topped off with a spectacular view. Perfect for a quick adrenaline fix.
