Yamaha T7 Something new to look at

I have followed this for the last 6 months from its original release. I have been looking for something to replace my KTM 640A and this may be the ticket. One important criteria for me is the weight. I do a lot of solo riding and occasionally end up sampling the local soil so I must be able to pick it up by myself. I spoke to the local Yamaha rep at the MC show and this bike still looks like at least 18 months away. Then we have to see if it comes to North America.

As interesting as that bike looks ....I still think THIS is the best evarrr platform for an ADVENTURE bike.

But I'm biased

Wingman has a 690 and its a smok'n great bike. We have swapped bikes on the highway and it seems light and twitchy to me, the Nine-5 Oh blocked the wind a little better also.
But....wingman didn't like riding the 'recliner' either.

Everyone has a different idea on what an ADVENTURE bike is.
The 6xx cc single cylinder bikes have great hp but they just aint smoooooth like a v-twin engine for longer fsr or highway K's....on the other hand, ther is something to be said for lighter in the dirt.
I sure wish I had more money so I could have a BIGGER selection in the shop to choose from.

So , what do u think we r looking at for a price on the new Yamaha, $15,000 ?

Am disappointed that Yamaha has had this bike shown in 2016 as a prototype, now again, in 2017. Was led to believe that it was coming out as a 2018 model. I can't wait any longer, afraid I may be buying my first "Orange" bike! I held off until this time, hoping against hope that SOMEONE would release a nice light weight dual purpose bike. The Japanese are 20 years behind the times! When the newest serious dual purpose bike is the DRZ400S, you know it's bad. I have always bought Japanese bikes, but am fed up with their product offerings. Also, have kinda held Honda above everyone else, but they seemingly are making bikes that they believe I "should" ride, instead of bikes I want. They did a similar thing in the late eighties with the PC800, NX650, CB-1 and XR series, but it never worked, so they went back to a model line up that was more palatable. ...maybe for 2019?

The new KTM is available this year isn't it?

Kind of! A few of the "Top Selling" Dealerships will receive one or two models of the 790. Will be very limited for 2019. If you haven't bought it already, it is too late! They're all sold, already. For 2020 they are supposed to be more plentiful.
