I was just conversing with a site sponsor that likely has what you're looking for. Very neat protection products for BMW's etc.

Most guys ride with a skid plate, rad and hand guards.

I think that you can get carryed away with some of the stuff they have out there. Not to mention that depending on the speed that you wipe out at, no guards will help.

I have a 1200 GS with just engine and head guards. They have worked fine when I have dropped the bike at slow speeds.

Here's a link to the dakar section of a GS site I belong to. This would be a good place to ask for help: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=79

FYI Touratech Canada (Montreal) prices are cheaper than out of Seattle as you only have to pay 5% tax, instead of the 12% PST/GST tax and 8.5% Washington tax.

They MSRP prices are actually cheaper as well. I have bought a tons of stuff from them and have only ever spoken to them via email and webshop.

Edit: I wanted to add that Pierre has been great to me and has always kept me informed of when items have had to come straight from Germany and their expected ETA. I will order from them again, but I am pretty sure I almost have the entire G650X catalog....

Ride down to seattle put all the crap on, then drive back. This way you get better service, and dont have to deal with the snobs

Funny you think canadian Touratech reps are slobs:?

I can only speak from my experience and for the few times I have delt with them they have been exceptional, they even tried to speak in English for me.

Recently I ordered some Touratech parts from Pacific BMW, they were charging the same price as the Touratech.ca site, they did charge me for air freight because I wanted it now

I have also delt with the Seattle store and have been let down more than once, Items not in stock or they cant find them, that said they also were very accommodating.

Check out the SW-Motech Crashbars /Engine Guards. I bought a pair from Twisted Throttle, installed them, and then made a run at Brohm Ridge and promptly dropped the bike. I'm sure they saved the radiator and fairing.
I'm considering the Backbusters for grip protection but unsure if I want the required handlebar risers.

I have looked at the site and do plan to get the SW-Motech (over the Touratech) + barkbusters. (did not see what you mean about required risers - unless you are tall) . Also need off road tires and see good reviews for the Mefo Explorer also available from Twisted Throttle. The costs certainly start to add up!!! Need to get these done before the Newbie Ride I want to get to.

:D
