Now that Wayne has joined us I will point out that said tailbag also fits a dozen beer. :)

it just get better an better. Does it go like this?, while enjoying a beer, generously season chicken inside and out (S&P, herbs etc.) plop into milk, drink two beer. After the two beer remove the bird and toss into hot BBQ offa the heat, drink2 beers, rotate bird, drink two morebeers. Test da boid for doneness, not done? have another beer. Remove the now seriously dead bird, put on platter, cover with foil, have another beer. Whack up some stir fry vegi's with a sauce with a teeny bit of beer, drink the rest, scare up some sorta starch (rice, spud), lean back and admire (while enjoying a beer) the production so far. Whilesloshing down beer#8 or 9, chop up the deceased bird and place on the table with the rest of the stuff, and enjoy with the remaining beers, followed with enuf rotted grapes to ensure a full on wobble! Serves 4, make sure guests bring their own beers!

Huh, what 690R thread?, oops heh, heh.

Wayne,
A sensible way to deal with the chicken....most other KLR guys would be busy trying to convince the judge that they were really trying to help the chicken through the fence...or it was just "resting" on their lap:hb:

The 690 guys would be enjoying your culinary abilities...

Renazco uses your seatpan so all I have left is the old seatskin. It was actually cheaper than Rob's Corbin. (Although he didn't need to send in his seat pan so he now has two seats.)

That tailbag does expand a bit too so you can get a jug of milk and a chicken in there. (Shopping days - not riding days).

Don't want to ride down the other side of the lookout! Some big rocks down there.

Looks different without 10 feet of snow. Some guys ride there sleds up that face depending on how set up the snow is.

I'll try and get this thread back on track :X

I put almost 8k km on the 690 this summer so I did some checking in response to Ged's excellent research above. First, check the rad for any wear from the fan shroud. All looks good.

Then check the bushings on the big tank bolt. I'm gonna remove and tighten this bolt pretty regularly anyway. No sign of wear here. No play evident between bolt and bushing or between the bushing and the tank sleeve.

While I was checking the tank bolts I noticed that on one side the tank was a little close to a grounding bolt.

There was a little blemish there so I decided to move the ground point. I removed a bit of paint on the nearby bolt hole and installed the ground wires with a little longer bolt.
