I was hoping that the TE250 advertised was street legal. I'm pretty sure that out of principle I'd not purchase the bike at this location anymore though. As a sales person, I like to think that I have to earn my customers - leaving prospects hanging in the wind catches up eventually.

I'm frankly surprised DSBC admins should really disassociate themselves and drop him asa sponsor. Most of the Husky owner have learned their lesson the hard way, including me. How long are we going to defend this shop.

I would think that just because someone sponsors a site, that doesn't necessarily mean that the site endorses the sponsor :)

I don't think that a web forum is a place to 'investigate' or approve or disapprove of a particular shops business practices or level of service delivery.

Just my $0.02

To be Honest, I guess the best place would be a Court of Law.

But other forums I belong to, have "Dealer" section just for that purpose and Dealers respond back.

Your logic is sound. However, a web forum is exactly that -- a place to share experiences, whether good or bad, so others can draw their own conclusions.

I agree about the 'investigate' part, but as to the rest I disagree. What better place than this to compare experiences. I'd think a lot of the business these places get comes from word of mouth, and that's the power of these forums. If I was a small businessman I'd be watching forums like this very carefully to see if I could nip something in the bud.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I usually think pretty carefully before posting, to give an honest and thought-out opinion. To the best of my ability, anyway.

This place is much better mannered than a drunken campfire setting, where shop opinions are bandied about regularly and harshly. Obviously you have to pass everything through the B.S. filter, but I get a lot of good insights here. Hopefully I can provide some too. I don't make reccomendations I won't stand behind. Or criticizms of someone's business, for that matter.

Peter: I meant the _owner_ of the forums should not be responsible for investigating the sponsors. Someone had said that the site (i.e. owners) should get rid of the sponsor.

Very different than _users_ of the forums providing feedback.

Ah. Roger that. You bring up a good point, though. What is the moderator/admin supposed to do if a site sponsor is falling below the 'good neighbour threshold'?

Bad neighbour --> :mad2:<-- poor admin

Just keep getting up again? Or dump them without investigating? Tough call, I'm glad I don't have those worries on top of all my other worries! Good luck Tom...

True enough. It takes enough work to maintain a popular board like this as it is without having to get into personally vetting sponsors.

That said, if it becomes clear over time that a sponsor is doing shoddy work then I think it makes sense to decline the sponsorship when it comes up for renewal. Part of what makes having your business name in a list of sponsors valuable is that there is some assumption of endorsement there; otherwise, why not just take out an ad in the yellow pages? And I think that if a business that develops a poor reputation with the board's members is allowed to remain a sponsor then it dilutes the value of sponsorship for the others.

I think it's been mentioned in passing before, but I'd be interested in supporting a site that just charged a small amount of money per year for membership. There are lots of models to choose from when going that route and it's probably not the place to go into them here, but when the money to run the site is raised directly from its users it avoids the split loyalty problem.

Of course, I think the site is run very well as it is; this group is almost universally thoughtful and mature, and I think a big part of that is due to the moderators. Maybe that job would get tougher if membership were no longer free; it's tougher to discipline/ban somebody who has paid cash for membership, I would think.

Dunno. I'm probably more careful about being a dick on sites I'm paying membership fees for - I guess I don't want to 'lose my investment' by being kicked off...

+1, most of you know of my experiences there.

how can you guys be so chicken shit to tell others of your experiences with local shops

word of mouth is the best advertisment imo and having these forums puts the word of mouth right at our finger tips 24/7

the only way these shops and dealers can be held acountable for their actions is if everyone knows about past experiences and dealings with them

only once they start losing buisness due to peoples past experiences being known publicly will they change their ways and do the right thing

north you shoudl have been able to post this matter and the name of the company in your first post of this thread then email them a link to it and that shoudl have given the company a clue they shoudl do the right thing and look after the paying customer with the keyboard to tell his story

just my 2 bits

just a quick headsup to anyone out there with an '08 TE-610 who likes to ride a little harder than boring old FSR roads. I managed to snap the welds that hold the battery in place on my last ride, the only thing holding it from falling right through the frame was the rubber strap and the front mudflap (yikes) I don't jump the bike (very high or far) but have heard of others who have had the same issues. So, before your next adventure, maybe have a look to see what your welds look like and be aware. I had to tear apart the rearend and take in the subframe to get it re-done ($40)

My 2 cents - I was seriously interested to purchase a new bike from this shop, and received some good advice from DSBC members in regards to an easy maintenance bike that would be more suitable for someone like me who lacks ability to perform more than the most basic tasks on a bike and will rack up the KM's. And who believes that motorcycles should be cost effective as a sole means of transport on a long term basis.

Sometimes its almost impossible to be straightforward and honest isn't it? For those of you who haven't travelled, you should know Canada is so full of suckers that we normally come in at the most expensive in USD for almost any new product released on the planet. Why should bikes be any different than anything else? I just think its interesting in the poorest places in the world like Afghanistan they can afford to ride the same bike as I do and it does not cost them an arm and a leg unless their IUD went off by accident on the way to work. Not to say there aren't differences, but Canadian efficiency is getting so low that almost all labor jobs that can be exported have already been and those that can't decide the sky's the limit.

Unfortunately for many people our word of mouth is now the internet forums, and no bad news means no bad reviews when you don't happen to know someone who made a mistake you're about to make.

I'm a DSBC sponsor. Please thank me with your busi
IT was 5THGEAR !!!!!!!

I would like to apologize to Rick . Our mechanic did pinch the line . I went to PacYAm to look at it. The service was done and the line which connects to the top of the head was about 10 degrees to the right and when putting the tank back on it slightly pinched it. It was the mechanics mistake but once the tank is on you can't see the pinch or know it happened. We now know to look for that. Said mechanic had done around 100 plus tune ups on 610's with no problems.

Pacyam can't get the gaskets you need to inspect the motor , we have them and most the parts in stock it can be fixed free of charge . If a mistake was made we will come good for it.

I'll even work late one night and you can watch it being fixed .

Miller thanks for info on the broken battery.
