I was in there today, I guess they are just not great at getting to the phone. Bill was talking to myself and some other customers. Try sending him an e-mail.

I think for the winter they are closed during the week and open on the weekends. I think I read that on their website.

I guess it all depends what side of the situation you're on. I know I've been in stores part way through a transaction when buddy interrupts it to answer the phone. The call then turns into a circular conversation going nowhere fast and I'm growing roots getting nothing done. Personally I think the person that's actually in the store should take precedence especially if already part way through getting served. Probably wouldn't hurt to have enough staff to have a phone person as well. My .02$

Oh I agree, but when you phone a half a dozen times you start to wonder if they are open. I just wanted to make sure they had what I needed before I head down there

Phone Dave at Gnarly Parts. He can get you any Husky part and you don't have to go anywhere.

Same here... ;) But ya i'd have to ship it to you as we're still looking for a place to put the darn store ( and I don't suppose you would feel like driving all the way to Kelowna for an oil filter)

Thanks for all the replies, I went into 5ht gear and they managed to find me a filter and some oil. Got my te all ready for my spring break trip. I look forward to making it out to a few more rides this year and meeting some of you.

I gave up on trying to be a 5th Gear customer as they rarely answer their phone (install a hold system... seriously - it is disrespectful to your customers and why would someone want to invest 7-10k with a dealer that you can't even get a hold of?) and when I did get someone on the phone they seemed arrogant and dismissive.

3 years ago when I was shopping for a new bike it was between the Husky and the KTM. It was 5th gears lack of service and ability to pick up a phone made me decide on a KTM. I am now in the market for a new bike and I am considering a Husky once again, but I will not be calling on 5th gear again, not that they would know if I was calling anyways.

Business must be good enough anyways as it obviously isn't that big a deal to answer the phone, so they won't be missing me.

I have to say that I am truly happy to know (now that I am back in the market) that their is new options for Husky's in BC as 5th Gear was not a good representative for the brand.

My 2 cents... maybe 5th gear can use it towards a proper phone system that would accommodate their customers needs.

You registered with DSBC 2 years ago and this is your first contribution to the board? WELCOME.

Thanks for sharing your first-hand experience with this small shop; too bad it was lousy.

I was in at 5th Gear today. The guys in service were busy. The walls out front are well stocked with goodies, and the new manager (Paul) had my order ready to go (and I ordered more stuff while he was serving acustomer booking a pipe & remapping for his R6).

I don't believe that their phone rang once, so maybe they just want to deal with folks face to face... who knows.

Glad you enjoyed your KTM and I hope you'll buy another bike from one of our sponsors... Pacific appears to have a nice selection of Husky's in stock.

Yes I have been a member for over 2 years, but haven't posted. I am not big into forums as I feel they can take up a lot of time and I don't have much of that as I am on my bike as much as possible.

I can usually find answers to my questions in the threads that are on the site, so I haven't felt the need to post my own questions yet.

When I read this post it triggered a very frustrated memory for me. I was really interested in the Husky TE510 or TE610 a few years ago and tried to contact 5th gear about it. I live a 45 min ferry ride and 45 minute drive from 5th gear, so it doesn't make sense for me to just drop in for a couple of questions. When I am planning a city trip I make sure that I have all my ducks in a row. I called and called and called. The phone just rang and rang and rang.

When I finally did get someone on the phone they weren't interested enough in me to speak to me. I felt rushed and that none of my questions got answered. At the time I couldn't even find out what times they were open, so I couldn't make the trip anyways.

They also told me that they had no demos to ride. A typical system of control for supply and demand. They were the only ones with husky's in the area and they knew that lots of people wanted them, so why offer a demo? That mentality will catch up with you.

I just tried calling them and sure enough no answer. At least now they have a message telling us the hours, which is a vast improvement from nothing.

Yes my experience with 5th gear sucked a few years ago and that is what triggered this response.

OK, so I just called 5th gear again and I got a guy on the phone who was very helpful. It was a totally different experience from a few years ago when I called. It didn't feel like I was putting him out. He actually engaged in our conversation and had some good insight that will help me narrow down my decision. I will consider them again now. Call time 3:17... nice. Still sucks that you can't get someone on the phone when you call, but at least this time (on my second call) I got someone who seemed interested in my business and therefore I am going to keep them on the table.

I also called Pacific and got reception after one ring who transferred me to sales where a very helpful guy walked me through all the questions I had regarding the difference between the 510-610 and 630. He helped me narrow it down with straight talk and what felt like honest and educated answers. The call including the time with the receptionist, the transfer and the conversation with the salesman took 4 minutes and 14 seconds. They not only helped me out, cleared some air and informed me about what they had available and what would be available when and what may be available in the future, but they just made a big step forward in winning me as a customer.

I love motorcycles but I don't like to tinker. I don't have time for it. It just doesn't interest me. I like to check my oil, maybe change it, air pressure, oil the chain, give a once over and hit the road/trail. Every couple months bring it into a dealer and get it serviced the same day, so I can come in and get home on my bike without having to wait over night and get a hotel. This is what I want, I am willing to pay for it and if I can't get it then I will go somewhere else.

Let's see how the next few weeks of shopping go as I am looking to buy before the end of May. It will come down to customer service and price (in that order) for me.

Seriously busy man. Clever too as I just looked at the time display on my phone while writing the email. Didn't take more than a brief second to look. You might be familiar with these things called "cellular telephones" or "cell phones". They have this thing called "digital display" and it tell you the time of your call... like right on the front when you look at it. I added it to my post to put forth the point that it doesn't take long to offer good service over the phone or in person.

I don't know why you would choose to be insulting. Calling me anal and saying that I would suck to ride with adds nothing to this topic and is without any merit and reinforces that forums are (for the most part) shrouded by simpleton cowards that wouldn't have the balls to speak to me like that in person, because believe me when I say that nobody does. You sure wouldn't because you would be too busy pulling my shoe out of somewhere unmentionable.

So ya. All that aside I think that I am happy to know that my experiences with 5th gear in the past may just be in the past. I am sorry if my opinion insults anyone here including the proprietors of 5th Gear but it is my opinion and I don't really care if you don't agree with it. I may not agree with yours either but I wouldn't be a b*t*h about it.
