Just was on the phone with TedB and he sez they found the old route that goes from Stave to McNutt. He sez with a little work it will be ridable with a KLR.

Anyone interested in a work party?

I'm leaving for Laguna Seca on the 20th (riding down for the GP) so the 18th is not open for me. I won't be back til the 30th but I can help out any time after that.

Is the trail rideable now for bikes more dirt oriented than a KLR? McNutt isn't exactly KLR friendly so having, or making, a B or B+ trail might be the thing to do. Most of the west Stave routes are C or C+ and the KLRs have no problems with them but there is a real shortage of B and A tracks in that area. Just throwing it out there as something to think about.

Rideable with a KLR....guess my DR fits into that category. I'm interested, do I need to remount my fancy milk crate chainsaw holder?

Cheers, Alex.

I spoke with Ted and he rode up to a view point on Blue Mountain that is approximately 700 meters from logging roads on the Stave side. Elevation is reasonably level and the terrain is old clearcut. Significant work to cut through the new growth and to deal with some of the side hills. The road is marked with white ribbon with red stripes (it may have "creek" printed on it as well). It starts from McNutt Road above the power line and goes off to the left.

Next step is to ride up 79 Creek area from West Stave and see if the area is accessible from the Stave side.

I am not sure of plans for the is weekend but may venture up in that area to gps and see for myself.

In the "this weeks rides south coast fraser valley" forum check out the thread titled "West Stave to McNutt connector" starting with this date:

06-26-2010 09:17 PM.

There is some information that indicates the connector trail is already there and the GPS co-ordinates for the start of the trail are listed. I'm going to check this out when I get back from LaGuna.
