I'm hoping to receive a new jacket for my birthday. I'm currently just using a shell. I would like one with some protection. I've noticed in the pictures that most d.s. riders wear a 3/4 length jacket. I'm curious if there is a reason for this or is it just the fashion to distinguish one self from a street rider?

no I think its mainly for pracitcality. You want a jacket to cover over the pants for rain. Most of those dual sprot jackets are waterproof so they act as raingear.

Out on a long ride u never know what the weather has in store for u.

The 3/4 jacket works good all year round. Keeps the lower back warm and dry .

If u have a get-off the chances of getting road/gravel rash on the back due to a jacket riding up is alot less.



I have used my Joe Rocket jacket from -10*c up and into the 40*c range.



The only thing I would change with the jacket I have is that I wish I would have got it in a lighter colour. The black really holds the heat in the sun:ss:

The reason I really like the longer jacket, it hold more stuff....big pocket on the lower back, one on each hip as well. Cover's my 661 Pressure suits back protector. Zips into the matching Joe Rocket pants so the wind (and muck) doesn't blow up yer back and the BoyZ in the back can't stare at my T-bar.....makes me nervous !!
