Has anyone been seen what the road on the west side of Stave is like. Thinking about maybe heading out there on Friday. It's got tohave bare sectionsby now, the main road anyway. It's been raining and warm for like a week now. Anyone not working on Firday and intrested in checking it out let me know and we can meet up.

Does anyone know if any of the trails around Stave lake are clear of snow yet ?
If so does anyone have any GPS track logs or routes I could get a copy of.

Thanks
Ian

I went out to Stave last week. I would say a few more week of this kind of weather and it should be all clear. The main road was fine for about 20km in and then as you climb elevation the it's gets more mixed. The side skirts are still snowed in.

I ended up going to Blue Mountain and it's great there if you want to do advanced single track. The trails are clear in the wooded areas. The only thing I forgot to take is a saw for all the fallen tree's.

End of McNutt Road or end of 256th Street in Maple Ridge. Not recommended for big bore bikes because it's very technical area. Be careful because you can get trapped easily and won't be able to turn around. You'll be pushing your bike down backwards.

Alternatively you can do my style and make momentum your friend on a heavy bike. Give it throttle and don't let go or you are dead. Knob tires are a must. If you have DOT tires make sure they are at least the caliber of aggressive off road like the MT21’s, which is what I use.

This area is more popular with the Trials and 250 range bikes but I live like 5 min from there so I go and explore there all the time. Your G450X should be fine with the right tires.

Let me know if you want to check it out and I'll take you around and show you the friendlier trails. I might go there on Sat.

Thanks for the info and it sounds like a great place to ride, but probably not for the first ride of the season. I'll either be on my new bike, or on my old XR650R as the BM is back at the dealers with starting issues. We will also have another rider on a new bike. I think we will stick with Stave and stay low near the lake and gravel pit areas.
We plan to go on Sunday if your interested.
