08 klr on hwy !

I ride mine on the Hwy alot. Even I-5 in Wash. State. No problems. Mine is an '06.
It's not a sport tourer. The '08 has better wind protection. But you should really try it out for yourself. It's always a case of what your used to before.

I ride my 05back and forth from the Kelowna area to Surrey and have no problems on the highway. More affected by wind than my heavier VFR. The fork brace seemed to improve the 120km plus speed handling.

I have ridden my '05 on the highway quite a bit including a trip to Oregon (4500km). Handling is fine. Cross winds are an issue with the tall bike. My wife has a tall windscreen for good protection. I'm too tall for the tallest so I've removed it alltogeher. Lots of upgrades, but nothing that wouldn't get done on any other DS.

And from what i have read they say the 08 has better wind protection with the bigger faring ! I want to sell my road bike to buy the 08 so i just want to make sure longer trips will be ok , thanks for the comments , still interested in reading more comments if anyone has them ..

Better from the front but I can't imagine it is any better in cross winds. I ride over port mann bridge every day and on windy days I think I could shut the engine off and sail across. You really need to try the bike. I let my friend try mine after he got the itch and he rode a sport bike before. He sees a big difference ofcourse as it takes getting used to. You should go demo ride one. You could easily get a used one or '06 to demo.

Thanks rydr , i wanted to hear from all klr riders, but i was really hoping to hear about the new 08. i have read all the new reviews that i could find,and they all look positive. SO i just put my bike up for sale this week and i am going to purchase the new 08 klr( green ) as soon as i sell my bike, and im going to buy an older klr for the wife. :tup:. if there are any other 08 klr riders out there i would like to hear your comments aswell...

I've had my 08 KLR (green) for a week now. The longest drive was from Vernon to home (150 km). Although I didn't push it in any way, I was impressed with the handling, stability and general ergonomics. Wind protection was also fine. The bike feels solid. The bike also feels 'big' and will take a while to build confidence for off road riding. I'm sure it will be very capable off road when I am more capable off road. This bike is a definite upgrade for long distance travellers. Vibration is not a problem either. Was looking for 6th gear several times though. Just seems like it should have it...
