Hey all, my first post here. My names David and Ive got a 1974 DT175 Enduro. When I got it it had no electronics so I put a 12v system in with all the lights. It is all street legal except for the off road tires and a speedo cable snapped. But, I have no papers for it. Since it was originally sold as an enduro I bet ICBC has them on file, but everyone Ive talked to there hasnt been much help. Does anyone know if I can get the papers for it through them, and get this thing in my name and insured?

This is the only pic I have, shortly after I brought it home

Oh it's not that simple, You have to send a letter to ICBC requesting a search, If they come back with a previous owner your good , if they come back as stolen then the police will be by to collect it, If it comes back with no records then you can apply for an assign vin, then the vin is sent to an inspection facility when the vin will be installed and the bike inspected, after you will have to go to a Notary and have it notorized, then you have to bring the bike to an ICBC agent so they can witness the vin is installed correctly, then you can insure it.

I am going thru this process now

When I did the BC Assigned VIN for my DRZ back in 2005ish you not only had to go to ICBC, you had to go to the head office in North Vancouver. It sounds like a real hassle but it's not that bad.

Thanks for the info everyone, that first link was helpful. So by the sounds of it first I have to head out to my dads shop and grab the serial number and go from there. Hope I do get papers for this, Im sure it gets better mileage than my Ranger :cool: Thanks again
