Your close enough to Holeshot in Langley...stop by and pick up the baja kit offered by KTM. One switch has the Kill/Horn/ Hi-Low-Off light...and signals in it. Get the tail light and the brake switched wired up and throw a mirror on the left side. KTM comes with a Nivis form, just go insure it.

I used the the Dakar kit by Elextrex on my 450EXC worked great. The big advantage over the ktm kit is that the dakar kit comes with a keyed ignitionswitch which makes the insurance people happy.Got my kit at Holeshot.

My buddy has a KTM 300EXC thats plated. It's ok for small bursts of max 85km/hr but it no fun for more than 10 km. :(No problem on gravel and totally awesome in the bush.:)

I put a 2002 exc 400 on the road a few years back, cost alot of money with the new wiring harness, switches, brakelight, speedo, signals, large mxc gas tank.It worked good enough I guess, the signals and lights would sometimes not work. But what really pissed me off, is on the countershaft shaft, the splines began to tear away and bend, leaving a lot of slop, after only 7,500 km. One summer riding! I was quoted 800$ parts and labour to change it out. The ktm dealer said I rode it to much! If you want to put it on the road I suggest that you buy the hub with the cushdrive inside, and maybe the optional rubbermounted clutch, big bucks... I just bought a drz 400, my buddy has 40,000 km on his Suzuki and no issues, good luck to you, hope it works out for you. I found the expense did not justify ride.
