640 worn needle jet

I ordered a new needle jet and jet needle for my carb as I suspect that the old one is worn. Lately my Adventures fuel consumption has gone up slightly and I notice a little less power than normal. One well known KTM shop recomends replacement every 10,000 miles, I'm up to 22,000 km so I guess I'm overdue. Has any one else had issues with wear on these items?

One drawback with uncorking is loss of fuel range, I do okay with the stock setup, a little lean at sea level means she wont be overly rich in the hills. Also opening up the airbox isn't such a good idea to me because I do quite a bit of riding in the wet stuff and the stock box is pretty watertight. When the time comes where I'm craving more power a 950 or 990 may be the ticket.

550 KM isnt too bad, I doubt if I'm getting that anymore, I'll see if I get my 600 km back when I refresh the carb.

Fuel light just came on at 391KM, a new all time low, I used to think 450 was low. Hope those carb parts arrive soon so I can get this fixed, she's burning about 15% more fuel than before.

Not a stupid question, I looked into that a week ago and swapped a clean filter for a clean filter just to be sure. Still using the same filter oil as before so that hasn't changed either. As soon as the parts come in I'll give her a full service, valves, oil, new spark plug+ give the carb a good cleanout+ check float height. Everything on the bike remains the same as before other than the pulling off the charcoal can to eliminate that as a suspect.

Did the full service this am, ripped the carb apart and did a full cleaning, looking at the jet and the needle they looked pretty good not much sign of visible wear. I then compared the old to the new and found the new needle didn't have as much slop fitting in the jet. I put her back together with the new parts and took her for a ride, what a difference, I now have my mid range power back. Not much time for testing as I had to take the Mrs. out for moms day dinner, but tomorrow I'll take her for a 500km test ride and see if it's as thrifty on fuel as it used to be.
