I just bought my son a 97 PW50. I am a new motorcycle dad. Any suggestions on what sort of maintenance and tune up stuff I should do. I dont expect me little guy to be riding it until later in the year, so I have a bit of time.

Would also like to find a service manual for the bike, and some little kids gear in decent shape.

=Change oil

=Change spark plug

=Lube all cables, replace them if they do not operate easily and smoothly

=clean air filter

=make sure tires have goo dtread. New ones for these small bikes a re verry cheap to replace.

=make sure the brakes operate good. ( grab good and don't stick on)

=Helmet

=Gloves

=chest protector

=goggles

=laceless foot wear

=elbow and knee pads. If he/ she gets hert on this thing the riding days may be over. It is verry easy for a kid to get scard and not want to try it again.

=Have first ride in a Big Open Field. And be prepaird for when he first twists the throttle. Most kids will freeze and hold it wfo(wide Fkn Open) when the bike starts to move. They will not remember to let it off and use the brakes:hr:. I have seen this many times.:ted:

=Make sure the throttle limiter works and have it turned right down to limit speed(see previous note)

=Make it all new and shiney for the kid:tup:

And maybe most importantly..... buy yourself a bike. It doesn't have to be a hight tek bike just something you can ride with him on. Riding is one of the best family sports going. Don't be a "Heres your bike , cya later" Dad.

Enjoy:tup:

Both my boys ( 10 & 5)have bikes ( xr 100 & z50 )and I can honestly say I always look forward to getting out andriding with them and creating some of the great memories I have of riding growing up. Just to see the look in their eyes when you tell them we are going for a ride the next day makes it all worth while. You can't put a price on that...

Your picture says it all Joker !!!

Cheers
