990 ADV Life expectancy

Hey everyone:

Does anyone out there have any knowledge about the life expectancy of the fuel injected 990 LC8 engine under ideal maintainance conditions (Synthetic every 7500k,clean air filter,15000k valve adj. blah blah blah) ? I just bought a 2007 and was wondering.

Depends how you ride. There was one on Craigslist in Seattle last year (an '04) with over 80g miles. The guy was asking $5000 U.S. for it. As long as you maintain it, you will be riding it a long time.

I ride the nuts out of mine ('05) and have over 60g kms on it so far. My wife has over 50g kms on hers. She did 30g kms the first year she had it. All we do is put oil and gas and tires and chains etc.

The most fun bike you will ever own. And I should know. Riding over 30 yrs. and owning about 40 different bikes in that time.

I've been doing a bit of reseach on these bikes too. From some of the little information i found it seems around 70-80k miles on advrider before you shouldsome significant engine work such as the top end, etc. Which is 110-130k kms.

I have 36,000 on my 950 with no problems what-so-ever. I am expecting to get a least double that before I even think about looking at refreshing the engine.
And,like duece says, it is the most fun bike I have ever owned.
