Any One See This One Coming?

A good way to eliminate the competition, is to buy them out.

I like both KTM and Husky, but it would be nice to them separate. Still, I will have to wait and see what happens.

If this does happen, will all the Dealers change again?

Now it looks like the current owner of KTM is buying Husky and selling the remainder of his stock to the other major stockholder from India, that should make the Orange guys happy!

Here is a bit more from today:

BMW has officially confirmed that it has reached an agreement to sell Husqvarna to Pierer Industrie AG, a company reportedly controlled by KTM CEO Stefan Pierer. The terms of the deal, including the price, are being kept confidential. The transaction is subject to approval by European antitrust authorities. In a press release, BMW indicates it wants to focus its resources on road going two wheelers, including the growing demand for green, economical urban transportation vehicles. BMW, including its automobile division, is developing very sophisticated hybrid and fully electric vehicles, some of which offer very high performance, to go along with more efficient internal combustion powered vehicles. Some of these new designs are already reaching production.

Hey Steve, a drag race would be fun, but first ya gotta paint that blue and white bike of yours orange and get rid of those funny looking little round logos on it if ya wanna have a chance of winning.

Nope didn't see it coming...right after they release what could be their most popular model yet the TR650?!

So here are some interesting quotes from an interview with Stefan on Hell For Leather via Nieuwsmotor.nl
http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2013/02/stefan-pierer-on-purchasing-husqvarna/

Nieuwsmotor: Why Husqvarna when, with Husaberg, you already have a similar marque?
Stefan Pierer: “We think that with Husqvarna, there’s a specific niche to tackle. With this brand, we want to focus on competing with Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. We’d like to move the brand to selling 10,000 units per year, then continue watching. For that, Husqvarna needs to go back to it’s roots, it’s strayed too far.”
“The brand has a wonderful history, but a completely wrong model lineup and is on completely the wrong track. The dealer network was not ready to sell two-cylinder street models.”
“We will work with Husqvarna to go back to its origins. We’ll soon be back in motocross and then in supermoto, both sports in which Husqvarna previously dominated. Within the next year, we will make an appropriate motorcycle developed with the specifications and character Husqvarna needs.”

Nieuwsmotor: How do you integrate Husqvarna and KTM?
Stefan Pierer: “The brands will remain self sufficient in terms of brand perception, models and sales networks, but as I mentioned earlier, there will be a lot of behind the scenes cooperation in the field of R&D, purchasing, components and more. We’re not sure if production will remain in Varese, Italy or move to Mattinghofen, Austria.”
“Initially, Husqvarna was bought by my private company, Pierer Industry, but in the future this may change and possibly involve our Indian partner Bajaj.”

Hmmm anyone for a $8500.00 Husky TE690 and $8000.00 TE500...:D

If only...
