Well, I got my TE450about the same time you got yours BB. Ever since we got the bikes, the weather has been absolute crap, so I've not got a whole lot of saddle time yet:(.

However, here's a few first impressions and observations.

Firstly, anyone used to convensional kickstands, will find the 'spring up ' kickstand either challenging, or a pain. I'm with the latter and am going to fix that tonight.

I find the absence of an ignition key strange. We spokeabout thistodayBB and, having checked out the owners manual this evening, I can't see that the SMR is any different. I'm not sure I know enough to start messing around too much with the wiring. At the moment, I have linked into the kill switch and fed to one side of a double pole switch. I then split the red wire coming from the battery, connecting it through the other side of the switch. So one switch turns of everything. At least you can't just wonder up to the bike and turn the indicators on, or push the Horn without turning it on now!! If no better solutions come up, then I will simply replace the switch with a Key switch for a bit of security. It's a wierd set up.

I'veadded a couple more 'mods', which I will photograph and post later.

Cheers Ian

I used to own a 85 Husky WR 500 and my brother still owns a 86 XC 400. Both great bikes when they ran, but the lack of parts and a dealer in Alberta in the 90's is the reason I got rid of mine and went to a Honda. I used to have comments thrown at me that I was riding a "dirt Harley" but no one could touch me up a hill or in a straight line race. Great bike and a lot of good memories.

My first Husky was a 1974 250wr. Great bike in 1974, way too noisy, limited power and suspension for today.Sold it sight unseen to somebody in the interior in about 1990 for $800. Still had the original piston in it and the original front tire. Bought a project 1984 510te, which was a disaster. I got tired of having help to start it and to drag it out of the mud. Luckily, the theft insurance paid me one-half of what I had in it. I next got a new 1999 360wr. It's been a great bike off road, but never really got the bugs out of the charging system and tiny battery I installed for dual sport riding. I plan to leave the street stuff off. My 2007 TE510 is ready for pick-up tomorrow and I hope to meet some of you guys out on the trails and the street.
