Attention X-Challenge Owners

The X-Challenge is a great bike, no doubt, but it has its deficiencies. As a new owner I'm posting these questions in hopes of resolving some of these... appreciate the input.

1. Tail/mudguard. You've probably ripped yours off (unintentionally?). What did you replace it with and where did you get it?
2. Auxiliary tank. I think I'd like something like Tom's where it bolts onto the side, but it would have to be removable for trail riding. Any suggestions?

I've looked at the threads at ADVRider, but I need a BC/Canadian perspective.

Hi, I will see you at the Orca and show you my mod. for the taillight. I ran 2 thin strips of alum. to beef it up. check your PM box

I bought the Touratech rear mudguard wih LED signals. I just added the pannier system yesterday and plan to add their tank this fall. Tom brought me over to see his neighbours (sorry can't remember his name) and I really like it.

Until then, I have the dual 1L bottle holder that I am going to mount to the rear of the right bag. Without the bags, the bottle is strapped to the back.

Touratech Rear Fender

Personally I think it is overpriced and not any good for real off roading. The plastic is to brittle. Right now I am riding with my stock rear fender but I will have to come up with a better Idea before orca.

I had been using a modified UFO fender temporarily and think I will try and mod that permanently


The aux tank I use is cheap and lasted the Baja :ted:that means its good enough for me

I have also been following the adv guy in alberta, he was working on a rotomolded unit that holds about 7 litres. Only problem is the finished product has not yet come to be
