This is old news in some of the larger Forums, but I will post my experience here in case one of our local members hasn't heard of this yet.

The 40mm CV carb in the KLR is the same as the one used in a variety of Harleys, including the Sportster, just with different jetting. This is good to know because Harley charges lessfor parts - A lot less.

Throttle Slide and Diaphragm from my friendly local Kawi Dealer: $198

Throttle Slide and Diaphragm from my friendly localHarley Dealer: $64

Float Bowl O-Ring from my friendly local Kawi Dealer: $16

Float Bowl O-Ring from my friendly local Harley Dealer: $5

Finding out about this before I got ripped off: Priceless

I'll second that, because it was news to me as well. Thanks Buckethead.

I generally don't mind paying a bit more to support my local shop, but for me this crosses the line into excessive.

It seems to be the same issue in the US and in other parts of Canada. Spead the word, and hopefully Kawasaki will notice.

As a bonus for my disloyalty,Igot a good laugh standing there in the Harley dealer imagining putting all of that chrome and studded leather on my old KLR! :)
