Sharon and I rode down to Menlo to the Washington BMW riders rallye. We left Saturday morning on the 6:15 ferry to Port Angeles, and after some time spent in Port Towsend, we arrived at Menlo about 3:00 PM.
There were about 400 people registered at the rallye, and it seemed most of them were tenting ... or had hauled down a tent trailer behind their motorcycle. Vast majority of bikese seen were Bimmers, with a sprinkling of other bikes. Several sidecar rigs, including a Ural and a Vstrom 1000. even a few trikes.
Good crowd, very friendly, and easy to start up a conversation with just about anyone. No snobs here.
Great presentation put on about round the world "adventure" touring, with our own Robin featured .... scowling when he found out the new 1200 BMW anti theft device REALLY meant anti start. Lots of interesting slides and stories about what true adventure touring really is
[ an adventure is merely an ordinary vacation gone horribly wrong ... ]
All in all a good time.
