brake light out

I have a KLR 650. As of today my brake light does not come on using the front or rear brake. I do have a constant tail light on but not the brighter brake light. I checked the main fuse by the battery. It is fine. I also checked the brake light harness under the seat. Also OK. Is there another fuse or something that I do not know about? Any suggestions????

Thanks,

This may sound stupid but did you check the bulb. It should have two filaments, one for the brake light and one for the driving light.

No question is too stupid.

All the bike shops were closed today, but I found the GE equivalent at Canadian Tire. It was the same dual filament and numbers on it that the original bulb has. No luck. The filaments both look fine on the original.

check the socket itself, where the light bulb plugs into. it might be slightly corroded, causing a short. use one of those 12 v test lights, put the alligator clip to the ground on yer battery, or on a clean metal surface on the bike. carefully put the probe part of the test light on one of the contacts in the socket. now activate the brakes, the light should flash off and on as you activate the brakes.... good luck. and let us know how things turned out.

Thanks all for your help. I found the problem. When I put my bark busters on after the winter cold, I did not check the front brake clearance. The front brake was pushing on the brake light sensor.
