Does anyone have any information on the Buell Ligt mod for a DR650 ?

Where one could get the parts etc ?

Much mucho

Kamloops Harley/Buel will order the parts. They priced it out for me. I lost the 'BIZ' card but here were the prices that I remember.

The twin light housing with bulbs, glass and harness was only $75

The little wire couver....was like $50 ! way too much and would not do anything any how.

The wind screen was about $50 or so also . Then was another bracket that mounted the screen to the lifgr assy,I think that was $20 or $30 .

This isn't mine but I would mount the lights a little higher so the fender doesn't block some of the light.

not sure what Kamloops HD markup is like, but if they're not too convenient, another option is to order Buell parts from 'daves' - tons of links & testimonials on badweb ( badweatherbikers.com) . he's who I order through when I dont feel like riding up to Kamloops.

phone Dave Stueve at (920) 757-1651

Website ishttp://www.h-dappleton.com , but they seem to be doing some sort of upgrade right now. I'd post his direct email, but I'm on my laptop...

incidentally, for those who havent taken agood look at that light assembly, it has 1 high, and one low beam ( single filaments) in a FIXED assembly - that is, one whole reflector is aimed higher than the other, and they can NOT be aligned parallel to run dual filaments both sides. I run 55 watt low, and 100 watt high without any trouble, but still dont like the amount of light it puts out.

FWIW, Iwill be switching to another setup once I get some custom pieces made ( dual 5"rounds, in an aluminum housing to fit the OE brackets.) pieces will be CNC cut aluminum, and I'll post pics when I'm done, if anyones interested. ( probably look REALLY bugeyed on a DR though ;))

Talked to the parts guy at Kanes in Kelowna & he said he can order Buell parts right from Harley so any Harley dealership should be able to get them. They just wont have the part #'s if there not a Buell dealer but the part #s were on that link to the Thumper talk site.I will try to order next week some time.

unless something has changed,I'm calling BS on whoever toldyou that- I only live a couple of blocks from Kanes, and they cant get squat for my CityX. I've been in 3 times for assorted pieces, last time with part #'s: deeley / HD wont ship Buell parts to them. ( all I wanted was air filter, oil filter and plugs for crying out loud !!)

also for the record: Kamloops took 12 weeks to get my 1/2 cover in: Daves ships in 2-4 DAYS

OK like I said any Harley shop CAN order in the parts for you maybe they won't if they dont like you or something but here is my bike30 hours after ordering the parts from Kanes in Kelowna.Maybe you gotta own one of those shiny things behind the DR before hell sell you Buell parts

The Buell headlight assembly comes with a pigtail with 4 wires ground,hi,lo&one for a little park light in the middle so I just cut the plug that used to plug directly into the headlight and installed a four place plastic disconnect plug in it's place so the assy can be removed very easily. The wires are even the same colour although it seems the yellow and white need to be reversed.I am thinking of running a wire also from a switch I have on my handlebars for the grips to the low beam circuit which would allow the low beam to stay on when you select hi beam.

Hey Ulendo
Did you get around to customizing an aluminum housing that you referred to in you Nov 29th reply? Am interested in your results if you did.
And let me get this straight. The p/n for the housing is for both lamps, not a single and I order x2?
The Thumpertalk thread says these things throw a lot of light, any comments?
Thansk kin advance.

That is such a reasonable price!

I'm also considering using the housing/headlight and windscreen from the XB12X Ulysses model. Any opinions or experience out there?
