Changing fork seals in the KLR650

I got the seal and wiper out but I need to know how much oil to put back in??
possibly Big Booger or Volcan, or any other KLR guy that has done this.. any advise please??

possibly a bit of a cart before the horse, but did you measure as you drained the old oil or is it still in the leg?, if still in compress the leg and measure down to the level, if it's dumped and gone, I'll have to go do some reading, or another reply can supply the proper amt.

Actually I still have the old oil and I can measure the amount that came out (I don't suppose that too much leaked out as it only started a few days ago!)
I thought that the info was in the owners manual but I cannot find, and really need the official service manual! thanks for the reply

You can buy one of these from Motion Pro or make one yourself - A piece of brake pipe, some fuel line and a syringe.



The spec is 355ml to 424ml per fork depending on how much you drained, 188 to 192mm from the top of the fork tube to the oil with springs removed and forks compressed. The exact level doesn't seem to make a lot of difference as long as your within about 5mm. Too high (over say 20mm too high) and you risk blowing the fork seal.

Got the job done. Thanks for the info. Parts from Robert at MTR... advice as above and took for a test ride on Sunday Man that was cold!!
