The DRZ400s was my first Dual Sport (2001 if I recall...).
I loved the motocross 'feel' to the bike - i.e. it's so skinny, and it was fun doing 'MetroCross' in Toronto, but I felt like I was on my '93 YZ125 when I was on the highway.
Now I've got an '06 KLR 650 - much nicer. I don't doubt that the DRZ400 with proper knobbies would be easier off road than this big thumper, but I doubt the DRZ would haul through deep thick mud the same.
The KLR on the street is great, outside of the issues I'm having with it, which I'm pretty sure are dealer related. On the gravel or back roads / ditches it rocks, stock out of the box. Great for doing dry slides and wheelies.
