DRZ assistance

I'm looking for some advice. My 2006 DRZ has run into issues once again. I'm looking for some insight into how to proceed. Most likely the stator (again) and the carb is giving me grief. Is there a mechanic willing to take this on? Holeshot says no... too old. I know just enough to be dangerous, and REALLY don't want to lose another entire season. Especially one I will actually have time to ride.
I have time, I have some cash and a bunch of tools. Thoughts?

Too old?? What are they on about? Because it's a carb bike? Doesn't make sense.
Get a manual or look on line for a parts diagram then take the carbatooter apart piece by piece (jet by jet) Clean all the passages and put it back together. Check the float level. Guess the air screw at 1.5 turns and start the bike. It was running g well so the jets "should" be the right size. Turn on the gas push the button and, Vroom. Now fix or replace the stator. Burned winding?

Thumper talk has been amazing. So helpful. I just can't seem to get a firm diagnosis. I'm in Poco and have time on my hands. Really I would love some help. I did the stator myself last time, no issues, carb.... well I'll figure it out.

Next question. Where do I find a stator during a pandemic? Calls into Supersport, Gnarly Parts and holeshot can only get OEM ($800 plus).
What other canadian suppliers should I call?

I would suggest looking at one of Bucket List recent post about the stator for thr DRZ on TT or sent him a personal message over there and tell him Phil sent you BUT if you want and you are a member on TT, it might be better to send me a personal message and I can introduce you to him.

Also not sure what your stator/electrical issue actually is BUT IMO $800 CDN is stupid for OEM but I get OEM parts in Canada can be expensive and this might be another option but in the USA and you would need to confirm for your bike etc.

There are options for getting OEM pars bought in the USA shipped to Canada it's going to be a bit more challenging now.

Feel free to take this over to Thumper Talk and if so let me know.

Might be a good time to learn to rewind your stator yourself, its not that hard (spoken by a person that has never done it) but what do you have to loose other that 25 bucks worth of wire?

FortNine has couple options and they are still shipping. Cheapest is ~180, with free shipping (takes about 4-5 business days to Vancouver), not sure how much express shipping will cost.

Ya Fortnine is still shipping and I just ordered a new throttle tube for my DRZ as well as a folding mirror and FMF hat to get the free shipping and it normally takes about 10 business days to get my order to my PO box and some times quicker but who knows how long it will take.

I'll get the Canada Post tracking info once they ship so it will be interesting to see actually how long and I'm not in a rush for any of my stuff anyway :)
