One of my old time riding buddy from the GVMC has the lowering links and has found if you lower the bike to much the chain angles get all screwed up and makes a lot of noise, but you can still lower the bike by a good two inches with no problem

the 1' lower gel seat works good, no need for changing the dog bones.
