Fast Blink Rate

I have been searching for answers to no avail and was hoping someone here could help me. i have led turn signals on my DRZ 400 and the blink rate is too fast. I have purchased a new tridon hd12 flasher relay unit and was wondering if anyone had a diagram of which wires to connect to it?

If your DRZ has the integrated side-stand/flasher combined relay, the wires you need to attach to your new flasher are the RED wire to the flasher terminal marked +12 volts (battery) marked X on the flasher and the LIGHT BLUE wire to the other terminal of the flasher marked L. Your new flasher is a type that doesn't vary the flash rate with the wattage of bulbs so it should work fine

Normal flasher relays vary the flash rate with current through the bulbs and if your signal light bulbs are not the specified wattage that could cause your present relay to flash faster than normal. You could try checking that first.

(edit: LS if I had read your post better to start with I would have noticed you were using led's....and not regular bulbs. I've seen threads on this site that might help if you could search them....if not here's another one I just looked at:

Keep in mind leadsled I know nothing of DRZ's and this is my best guess, since no-one else responded.

Try the wattage of your bulbs. If youre not pulling enough amps on your turn signals it will flash fast.

They are L.E.D bulbs and the wattage is lower than standard bulbs. This is why the fast blink rate. Some people install resistors in each circuit but i know the easiest way is to install the tridon HD12 flasher. Just not sure which wires to hook it to.

I tried everything except for adding resistors and what I finally ended up doing is using LED signals on the front, incandescent on the back, an electronic flasher relay and removed the bulb from the idicator. I read a whole pile of info and just couldn't get all the LEDS to work without adding resistors.

a buddy of mine ROSCO is an electrical WHIZ-BANG. he's gotten 2 or three of my bikes blinking correctly with all sorts of weird combo of led signals,switches,wire looms etc. i'll get him to chime in,and hopefully tell you what you need to do.

if it can be done Rosco's "the man".

Adding resistors into the cicuit when using LED's would bring the load back up closer to the load of the original bulbs, so the benefit is,,,brighter? longer lasting? just curious.

I got it all worked out. i took the before and after schematics from thumpertalk to a mechanic from work. There were 7 wires going to the stock flasher unit. We cut all 7 and discarded the stock flasher. Connected two wires(orange and light Blue) to a tridon HD12 Automotive flasher, soldered 2 blue wires together, soldered 2 yellow wires together, ran the green wire to a ground.

Works great and also disables the kickstand safety switch.

L.e.d's last longer and they are brighter. I am told that adding resistors for each light would have fixed the problem but i felt the new flasher was an easier fix.
