I use a milk crate under the skidpan, if you have a KLR then you gotta have a milk crate.

I second that.

A milk crate has done wonders fortire changes to removing the swing arm and linkages for regreasing

I don't have a KLR but my DR650 also does not have a center stand, ( Thank Christ)

What I did was make a stand out of 1/2" plywoos and a few peices of scrap 2x4's

With the home made skid plate it sits level and both wheels off the ground.

I installed 1x2 aluminum angle iron to save the plywood from wear and tear.

Everything is glued and screwed for streingth and then I coated it with about 10 layers of good white rustolium paint.

This stand is 5 tears old, the bike gets worked on on it and washed on it. It is still solid !

KLR Brad:

Purchase a Canadian Tire motorcycle jack. They're worth a million bucks but they put them on sale for 99 dollars now and again. I think the regular price is $139.00

I use one for lifting my KLR and it works very well. It also has wheels on it so you can move it easily with the bike on it or not. So when your tire and wheel are being repaired you can wheelyour bike off to the side so it's not in the way.

Check it out here...http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortme...4442936321&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true

Long handle on that link.
