start with the easy power, punch four 1" holes in an "L" pattern on top of the airbox, then perform surgery andraise the needle(located in the carbatooter) a notchby using a shim from yours or your buddy's jet kit spare parts, then go ride and think about a pipe, ot not.

No problem on the air box, how thick a shim under the needle?.........That gives me more air and more fuel, isn't that going to create more back pressure in the exhaust?

how thick, dunno, I just used a shim out of a Dyno-jet kit, I suppose you're right bout the more air/fuel but even with the stock pipe I'm sure you will notice a difference

there is an easy way to richen your mixture. it involves removing the plug that covers the mixture screw and start with 2 1/8 turn from seated position. when i did it the stock position was about 1 1/2 from seated. do a search on some klr websites and this will surely show up with pics to help.

hey no problem, i used to own a klr and it ripped! you should also remove the snorkel from the airbox intake on the left side of the bike. yeah that thick piece of rubber, just pull it out with pliers.

you will probably eventually want to replace the stock muffler for more flow, but these easy, cheap mods will wake up the engine and put a smile on your face.
