Hmm....did ya bend the forks?

Are the steering bearings loose/tight?

Are the forks twisted in the triple-clamps?

Block the bike up on a "Milk Crate" or something that will keep the wheels off the ground. Then turn the handle bars and check if the steering head brgs are tight or rough or if they rotate smoothly.:ted:

They should rotate smoothly with little resistance .

Loosen the triple clamps on one side.

Rotate the upper shock tube by hand(You may have to insert something to spread the clamps...but not much just enough to rotate the tube.). Watch the lower fork tube and notice if it moves . If it is bent the lower tube will move out or in (towards the engine or away from the engine).

Re- tighten the clamps on that side and proceede to the other tube.

Top clamp bolts : 21 ft Lbs

Lower clamp bolts: 19 ft Lbs

How hard did u hit?

Did u bend the frame, collapse the rear suspension?

I have hit some prety hard'Botton-Outs" with my Dr and have had no problems.

Eyeball down the rear wheel and notice if the wheels are straight to eachother. Does the front seem to be straight up&down with the rear? If not you could have bent the frame.

Not that it matters ... had a KLR customer this past spring hit a large pothole at 120km/h behind Port Renfrew...he bent the front and rear rim and blew the rear shock..Ouch.....see quite a few KLR's with bent forks...mostly from Humping small cars though !!

Did you do work on the front end and forget to tighten the axel or did your 'bottom-out' cause the loose axel? If the latter, maybe there was some other damaged caused that should be inspected.

I worked on the front end.....didn't tighten it enough....everything is all good! I just came back from a 4399km ride, front end seems fine!
thanks
