I am interested as to why you have used it only a day. I do a lot of highway riding and would like to have a bigger shield, but reading some of the earlier posts of guys not liking the taller ones, i would like to know your opinion on it, buffeting, wind noise. thanks.

You didn't ask me, buttough noogies, I'm replying anyhow, I also had a taller screen installed for aboutten minutesone day, took it off never to be re-installed, can u say buffeting (sp?) heard a couple of kids yell "hey lookit the bobblehead", went home removed it, mega bobblehead, the taller screen is flimsy (or at least is percieved to be), to be clear. I didn't like it, it now resides on a shelf somewhere in my not exactly tidy garage.just my .02 worth.

This one is 4-5 mmthick and doesnt shake much.It mounts with 5 bolts and is braced with the stock faringmounts.
For what it is it's the best out there.!

Oops, scuse me, didn't mean to get in the way of a sale, wasn't thinking I wuz in the sale by owner area, and you're right, your screen may very well be sturdier/thicker and body size will make a diff, like most things you have to try it out. (did I mention that It doesn't work for me) ;}

o4klr, you had the 10 inch taller one? how big of a guy are you? when riding, the wind catches the top half of my helmet. just want it a little quieter for the ride to work.

I'm 5'8" but tall from the waist up (I don't know why people think that standing up height is important when considering a windscreen????) so likely sit about the same height as many 6 footers.
The Kawi 9" over windshield has worked well for me for over two years. I do some nasty off-road at times and have no problem with the screen interfering exepting for once coming down from a jump. That time, I was 80 kph plus and didn't see a cross ditch. (Pucker city! VBG) My helmet hit the screen just above the face plate but no harm to helmet, screen, or self. From my perspective this is over blown.
I prefer the wind reduction of the 9 inch over screen, although the wind noise is certainly higher than when standing with helmet in the air stream. Fast Eddie Copeman (out of Calgary) did a laminar wind screen modification which he reports as being very good in terms of protection and wind noise. It's on my list of things to do unless I give in to temptation and buy one of Ian's new design fairings.....
On the flip side, the earplugs seem to do the job and am losing interest in more modifications as I just completed number 88 on my A18.

One day I just went at it and cut this thing down with a high speed fine tooth jigsaw..:X..and it worked good.! Then I bent the Lip on top with heat over the Stove...I moulded the lip on the counter top..looks good!:clap:
He's a big dude and it's perfect when he's standing up in the rough..wide enough for him too..:shock:..But he's Bitchin cause it closes his Helmet at 80 KMH..

That looks okay, nd like it maybe a nice height.
I got the rreally tall one for my 08 klr650 last summer, and HATED it !

I reshaped the shield and found some trim for $5.

I was able to mount ita fewdegrees forward too.
Better stonger and tighter with the rubber trim
Holds it in place perfect.

Ya man..windshields can take you out:?....but so can alota things! I'm glad it sits forward more and is somewhat out of the way..Ive been bonked..a few times with out warning..ditchs and rutsare a bitch , ya gotta lean over at the right time
We ride 70/30 street and we prep for long off road rides.
Looks good though,makes the KLR not so fugly.

My kid and I went out for a Night ride at 10pm to Stanley park,Kits ,UBC,and back to ridge.. The shield is Killer and shuts down almost all the wind and it's a Full arms lenght away. Off road feels strange with a 3/4 fairing way outfront but it's not in the way or a Hazard! I think i'm goin to build another for my bike. Feels like a Cruiser/Ninja....We had a blast got home at 2am..My first ride in 6weeks.:dr:
