KLR Valve Shim Exchange

I'm checking my valve clearances tomorrow and was wondering if anyone was interested in setting up a valve shim exchange, or do you just throw the ones away that you pull out? I understand there can be quite a wait to order new shims from the dealer. Maybe if someone has switched out the shim size someone else needs, we can share them around?

Just a thought.

Great idea, just got four from Burnaby Kawasaki. 70 f**cking dollars. They are 3.95 U.S. from Fred at Arrowhead Motorsports.:mad3:

I can't believe they are charging this much for those shims.

I live in Prince Rupert and have four 260s.

I had this very topic out with the dudes at Spunky's Kawi dealership. If I recall correctly they charged me $18 per shim, with a four dollar rebate on the shims that I took out. They also said if I needed to exchange any shims, due to my miscalculationafter reassembly, there would be no charge. As it turned out I had to change one..........I mentioned the reduced cost of buying from Arrowhead and they said that they could not buy them at cost for that price. Obviously the US has more buying power worldwide.Seems to be the price of doing buisness in Canada.

I will be shoppoing around for best prices Canada and the U.S. and if the best prices are in the states so be it. Maybe one or two days extra I don't see that as a problem.

I will try and buy Canadian andexplain to the stealership that if I can getan order from the states 50-60% cheaper and they can't come down then they don't need my business.
