KRL650 A VS. KLR650 C?

Hi,

I've been offered a KLR650 C and the seller is willing to take my KLX250R in part trade so it would be a good deal from the view point of cash and not having to sell my KLX first. However, what are the pros and cons of the C vs. the A model. From what I can find so far the C has better forks and front brakes but a small 14L gas tank and not temp gauge, tach, or windshield. Thoughts and/or comments?

Just found this info:

KLR650-C Differences Here is a list of differences that James Hoving found between the A and C models. The C model has:

• Better front brakes: Twin-pot caliper.
• Needs better brakes because it has a dry weight of 370 lbs (vs. 337 lbs for the A model)
• Different rear subframe. Has the mounting for the rear brake master cylinder welded to the subframe. Not a bolt on aluminium part like the US version. Most other stuff is the same.
• Better front forks, 41mm with pretty stiff springs.
• Smaller gas tank (14litre).
• Different styling (gas tank, light, saddle and whole rear), looks sleeker.
• Rear tire made from butter. Good grip, but spent after 300km.
• No tach.
• No temp gauge, only a warning light.
• The speedo shows correct speed!
• The luggage rack will only hold 3kg. The factory says...
• Better engine guard. Welded steel pipe and plate construction.
• Steel rims.
• Wierd emission control system where the idle mixture is controlled by engine heat! [Could this be a carb anti-icing system?]

Diesel version KLR650.. And the colour doesnt blind you..:shock:.. The "C" version looks better, Not so Obese.

maybe it's just me butt, does that bike look like it lost some ground clearance or has it got the reducer links for the rear suspension installed.

The current owner is short and has lowered the front and rear suspension. I'll be taking care of that and likely adding some height to it to boot.

All my vehicels are still registered in Alberta and I'm likely moving back there this summer anyway so I'll just register it there.

Well I did it... I know own a nice almost new 2000 KLR650C. Very nice ride on the road so far and will have to get it onto some rougher stuff as soon as possible. Even managed to get a new Acerbis 23.5L tank for it
