KTM Freeride E

Sorry to say those web pages have been there for a couple of years. Doesn't mean squat. There are also web pages for the the Freeride 350.

My dealer says that KTM NA says that the Freeride 350 is *not* coming to Canada. But the Freeride 250R is, this November. I have my order in.

Not sure about the Freeride E. Personally I doubt it, but like the rest of everyone on the internet - I dont know shit. Ask your KTM dealer.

I overheard a KTM dealer saying that KTM had decided to charge too much for the 250, more than they had expected. I'd like one, told him KTM would sell a pile if they bring them in at anything reasonable.

Holeshot, Spunkies and Action are all expecting delivery in November. Place your order now if you want one. I was told to expect them to be the same price as the 250 XCW.

Order in? Why don't you just keep the Ossa?

As you know, the explorer is a great single track bike - it just eats it up. I bought it for my wife and I thought I could use it to compete trials with. But my wifey is just not riding anything anymore. Plus I got a great deal on a Raga - so I use that for my trials competition bike.

I also compete in hare scrambles/enduros with my KTM 350 excf. I am doing very well with it, but it is a bit heavy of a bike for the task. I did consider a 250/300 2T (like you), but then I found that the FR250R were coming this fall. The freerides have been used very well in the romainiacs and other hard enduros by the hobby classes. Based on this and info from friends in Mexico and Europe, it sounds like it will be a great fit for me and my riding/racing style (I am more tecehnical than fast, plus I dont jump very high)

The freerides are *not* the same as the OSSA Explorer. The freerides have more relaxed steering, more suspension, beefier suspension, wider spread transmission, beefier brakes, etc. They weigh more and cost more too. They are literally in-between an enduro race bike and the explorer.

I would *never* consider racing the Explorer in enduros or hare scrambles - it's just too much abuse on a lightweight bike. The explorer can easily ride all the trails and technical aspects of the race courses, but in racing its about speed so its more about bashing things rather than "styling" things. The explorer, with its trials background, is more about styling things than bashing things.

So I will order the FR250R and see how it works for me as my race bike. Cross fingers and toes. I suppose as I get faster and jump more I might consider a 300 2T (I am all about torque and grunt, hence the 300) - but I will wait and see.

Have you been taking your TE250 to the hare scrambles? How is it working out?

That makes sense to me, the Explorers are a finesse ride for sure I never felt good about bashing mine at a fast pace. Once again I work every single race day this year, I'm too fat anyways.

Sorry I missed you at the races. I'll keep an eye out for you at the next race for the TE250. I wont be in town for the Knockout, but should be around for Hell's Kitchen and Redemption.
