KX 250 weak/intermitant spark, advice & parts wanted

Hey back yard mechanics, having trouble getting a consistent, strong spark on my 2001. I've been through most of the electrical system, which seems okay, and before I shell out for a new CDI was hoping to get advice or stain from the peanut gallery.

Potentially looking for ignition pieces for same bike.

I'd rather crash this old MXer than my TE, thanks in advance.

Try a new plug cap ,and cut a bit off the plug wire skin and rethread the new cap into the fresh wire??

Have you disconnected your kill switch to eliminate a possible short in the wiring or switch?

No short in kill switch circuit.

One thing I did notice is that the pick-up coil is offset from the rotor magnet by half (pick up is only "seeing" 1/2 the magnet). Going to pull the rotor tonight and see if there is an extra shim that has been installed, the bike is new to me.

Just curious how are you testing secondary spark voltage quality???? http://www.toolfetch.com/Category/Automotive/Spark_Testers/THE404.htm What is the general drivability fault?? no engine start, stalling, engine runs cold only?? Pulse coils trigger coils as well as CDI can be tested with a Fluke 120 or Snap On vantage I use both at work
