Looking for 650 Dakar parts

I just bought a 2004 F650GS Dakar. The bike has been dropped and the front wheel destroyed, handle bars bent, clutch lever broken, etc. It looks like the shocks will need some attention as well. Does anyone have advice on where I should look for new and used parts for this bike?

Thank you in advance.

If you really want to salvage the heated grips you'll have to install either the stock handlebars or something likethese.

You can get some cheap levers here, but they're not adjustable like the stock BMW ones. It says 2006, but they will fit a 2004. The upside? They're like $5. No, that's not a typo. You can thank Sailor for that little gem.

Naturally, your local BMW shop can do all the work for ya.I thinkthe one inVan is John Valk. The one over here is SM Cycle.

Did I miss anything, BMWNut?

Also Pacific Yamaha/BMW. But if you are interested in upgrading and your stock parts are destroyed already try http://www.touratech-usa.comYou can get pretty well anything from them in cluding a full Dakar kit!

Shocks are gone? Like seals for the forks? Or totally blown rear shock? Replace the front seals with stock from a dealer (likely still under warranty - as long as it's not crash related) and upgrade the rear shock, likely with WP. Look at www.f650.com for more info.

Shouldn't be terribly costly for new stuff...yeah, right! But most of this work sounds very do-it-yourself-able, cutting your cost by up to $90 an hour.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the links and advice. I've torn the front end apart and aside from the destroyed rim, most of the bike looks ok. I'll get the shocks checked out and see what I can do with the handlebars. Lights, mirrors and levers will get replaced. I think the biggest expense will be the wheel. I may just buy a complete replacement but first I want to get the hub checked out and see if it is usable. If it is, I'll see if I can find a local company to lace a new rim on to it. Otherwise I'll buy a replacement wheel from BMW or Touratech.

Have you tried Motobins on the web they have a great supply of BMW parts. I have dealt with them and they were great.
